constitute Volume Five of the Israel news group. It provides the latest news items with the earlier ones in one set.

Thus there are two sets, the News Set and the General set,
the former of 5 Vols. and the latter of 5.

The poignancy in the title for the four sections of news, is that even though Israel is the one to be delivered, the one assaulted, victimised, hated (by those often far less impressive as nations in thought, scholarship, understanding, level of research and development), and is a major people in the mind of God to extricate and defend, YET she does not hear. That is, she does not hear, as a nation. It is like someone, in a way, with a vast estate made available by a will, who is in great difficulties, but who never collects it. Certainly, this being a basically spiritual relationship, it can be collected only by faith, but what is that ?

Do not people have mischievous or well-directed faith in vast numbers ? Is it difficult to conceive believing in what is in any case demonstrable (cf. SMR, TMR, Light Dwells with the Lord's Christ, Who Answers Riddles and Where He is, Darkness Departs!). Yet Israel, with the wolves baying about her little cottage on the sea shore, seeking her capital as more bones, in part or to internationalise it, she does not hear.

Of course she will (Zechariah 12:10 pursues her case after she is once more re-established in her land, and moving on to 13:1 shows what is to be when Christ comes into the land by His Spirit once more, in marvellous power and presence). She will listen. She will heed. The time is near. In the MEANTIME, how she suffers. This is a portend for those who molest her, even if with honeyed words. Their time is likewise foretold to come. Currently, however, many grasp for the opportunity to level their presumptuous thoughts against both God and man, and HANDLE this Israel.

Now therefore the point is being made, in this News Section with both Iran and Turkey taking to baying vociferously, and the Madrid Quartet still putting on their surgical gloves for the further dismemberment of the tiny residue from the spoils of Palestine, largely given to Jordan with more offered back by Israel earlier, that it is hard to find ANYONE listening. To what ?

It is not only individuals alas, but nations which can grow so voracious in appetite, impetuous in lust (whether for peace at any price or oil, or prestige or survival or significance, or their world view or their place in the nations, or their strategic overview), that justice appears a mere relic, dropping like saliva from the dripping lips (as it is shown in the late developments sketched before the Messiah comes to rule, in Isaiah 59:6-20). It may not APPEAR so to those who act as if to appease the oil rich with another kind of oil, and clamour for acceptance by Islam, despite its utter assault on Jesus Christ, on the Bible, flaming without rational basis (cf. More Marvels ... Ch. 4, SMR pp.1080 and indexes).

It may SEEM that peace is the real objective as they assist the molesting but rebuffed Moslem nations which have repeatedly assaulted the relic of land called Israel, that abortion which is all that is left of the far larger scope of the League of Nations and British offer to Israel toward and at the end of the First World War. The case however is not factually sustainable. Peace is not obtained by helping people to smother a smaller person, or to manacle a nation beyond all hope of release by any human means, not only harassing what now belongs to the land, but in many cases, helping those who seek to reduce it and the people, or even destroy them, as in the case of Iran now and Nasser earlier, along with such as Hitler. Why revolt at fact ?

If Israel seeks to defend herself from further ravishment by invaders, is this warlike then ? If she grows at times weary of being bombarded, youth and age, yes and children due fodder for the jaws of the nations, and counter-attacks, is this amazing ? If she then withdraws and seeks peace, THAT is amazing, and commendable. If some in the assaults on her have been incommoded, is this surprising ? Were not the Jews in countries other than Israel when the UN failed to defend Israel in the 1948 genocide attempt, also incommoded! Did they not also have to leave!

Is it to become a new rule that when Japan seeks to invade, anything she suffers must be remade if she does not win ? or Germany ? or Russia with Poland, or anyone with a victim ? Is it to pay ?

Is the assassin really the victim, then, and are those nations making war to be recompensed so that they may make it again; and are invading nations to be given scope by international treaties, to thrust more of their people into their erstwhile prey, so that they can vote a people out of its own land!

God however has for some thousands of years foretold this type of thing for Israel, and the coming assault, just as He correctly foretold the nature of the 1948 war and the division of Jerusalem as in the line of events leading to Christ's coming to rule, in Zechariah 12. He foretold what they would do to Christ and what the nations would do to them, right down to the death date of the Messiah (Christ the Citadel... Ch. 2), and their dispersion, and their return.

However, if man wants to try God, as Pharaoh did, then the case is not unknown. It is for the foolish nations interfering precisely in the way against which they were warned in Zechariah 12, that one has pity, as they pit their wits against the Almighty! This is no figure of speech. It has been fearfully sad for Israel and it will be grievously sad for them. But man loves to parade his gifts to the moon (or now to Mars), while abusing them (Psalm 115), and ignoring the word of God. Since we are even manufactured by it (in the DNA, as written in commands), this is a gravely misled action, so that those involved are even forsaking not only their own mercy, but dividing themselves against the word of Him whose word even gives them and all of us, our being!

Hence it is well to continue giving eye to developments. It is better to bring it to heart, and best of all to seek the Lord, whether Jew or not, for in the end, all things will be gathered up not in Judaism or Islam or any other thing that stops short of the Lord, but in Jesus Christ the Lord (Ephesians 1:10). Trying to force it all to add up in the UN or in the Quartet or in the interests of prosperity in oil, or non-violence from terrorists, partial things positive or negative, it is like trying to force a fat foot into a narrow shoe.

GOD HAS MADE IT NARROW. The way IS narrow (Matthew 7:15), and the word of God has specifications. Those who put their foot in it, in the narrow shoe, whilst it is swollen with the thrust of pride, merely embarrass themselves, even as they harass Israel or ANY OTHER FEATURE on which God has spoken, whether it be false religion or pride or swanky self-assurance of a withering lack of humility and a vacancy where a humble and a contrite heart should be.

The signals are many, the progress is great towards that glorious day of the Lord's return, to act after the conflict with that grace that is Christ's (cf. Psalm 72); and the events pile up like road signs! (cf. Answers to Questions Ch. 5). There is no necessity, but only the shame and the sham of sin, which prevents the return to the Lord, to His word, witness and ways, in repentance, reconciliation and faith, to regeneration and adoption as His own children (Ephesians 1, Acts 2). There are no further options, just as there are none to acquire a new body before the resurrection. If one insists on ruining what is given, be it body or directions, then that is like flying into a volcano. You do not HAVE to do so! It is far better not.

It is not just that this is hot, and devastating when at last you manage to get there; for your flying machine is made by the Master craftsman, and it has specifications apt for it. ONE of these is to keep in touch with both the manufacturer and the airport, the service manager and the Saviour from disrepair and disruption. Appointments are readily available (Isaiah 55), and results are as required (Titus 3:3-7). Mercifully, the cost is in coming, to pride and self-sufficiency, to sin and lure alike, but the kindness is found continual when relationships are restored, redemption is paid and the case is covered in the way the Bible has specified for many generations and several millenia.

It is considered that this collection of news items, taken in chronological order, may give some sense of progress in regression, that is the development of misled national, international, racial or anti-Semitic movements in the past 8 years. These news items all have appeared, here and there, scattered in the NEWS listings on this site. For development, we start at the oldest item and progress to the latest, a movement in 17 Chapters. This then follows on from the four sections of News Items in Volume 1.

It moves to the more recent, then, starting in this Volume, at July 13, 2003 and proceeding to .

Does the EU ? the Madrid Quartet ? Does the UN ? Does the USA or Russia within that Quartet ? The pickings are there, and so are the teeth, for whatever diversified reasons, and the flesh is succulent to some, savoury to some, and to be yielded for policy, perhaps, for others! Yet it goes, and the time comes for the biblical confrontation WHEN Israel is without strength in particular, WHEN her resources are not adequate (as in Deuteronomy 32:32-36), and HIS judgments who IS the Lord, will not be a matter of voracity or puny policy, but defence of that to which He is, by honour, committed.

It was MEANT that Israel should go into exile (Ezekiel 39:37-38), as that they should at length return (Ezekiel 36-37 cf. It Bubbles ... Ch. 10); and that a massive crusade of antagonistic nations should gnash and slash, this too was foreseen (Zechariah 12:1-9). This was to be after the return of Israel to its final earthly resting place in its own land as in Zechariah 12, before their then impending nationally vigorous conversion to Jesus the Christ, once crucified (12:10-13:1). Then ? It is in our present time zone (cf. Answers to Questions Ch. 5, SMR Ch. 8)

It was in the mind of God that a vast further attack should come with swagger of self-assurance (very like that of Sennacherib in ancient times - Isaiah 36ff., this too, well-known beforehand - Isaiah 37:46). This is made clear in Ezekiel 38-39 and Micah 7, Joel 3:13-31; and the confrontation is shown in Isaiah 66:7-16, as in Deuteronomy 32:39-42.

In Isaiah 66, you find this vast outpouring of divine wrath on the exploitative forces facing Israel after the people have returned to their land, a nation "born at once"; and "who has heard of such a thing!" the Lord asks. "As soon as she travailed," says the word of God to this finale, "she brought forth her children!" ; and it was so in history as in forecast. May 1948 was that fateful day of the sudden announcement of Israel's statehood, as they moved from a group within a nation under other auspices, betrayed by Britain, in terms of its Balfour declaration, to its own actuality, as in one day!

We are following the prophetic account in Isaiah 66, in this way. It is THEN that the Lord makes clear His thoughts of peace to Israel, and in this milieu of time that He brings conviction and conversion to many (Zech. 12:10-13:1).

The Lord is plighted to come forth "to render His anger with fury, and to rebuke with flames of fire. For by fire and by His sword will the LORD plead with all flesh; and the slain of the LORD shall be many," (Isaiah 66:15). You may be sure^*1that the Lord does not come forth with fury when the GOSPEL is preached, but the opposite; for then He comes with peace to the afflicted, and joy to the penitent. This is a matter of peace in the furore " to His people", for "the hand of the LORD shall be known to His servants, and His indignation to His enemies," Isaiah 66:14. There is no question of church here, for violence is forbidden its ministrations; but rather is the Lord working to the defined and definitive Israel, unique as noted in Ch. 11 of THE GREAT DIVIDE, as in Appendix A of SMR, and as readily distinguishable as is a precipitate from the liquid from which it falls.

Here it is a people dispersed, but brought home to their former land, cast out but brought in, one which had been a source of mourning, now a matter of rejoicing, one lost found, restored to former religious acceptance. Here is a nation NOT THERE, but suddenly born, in the most extraordinary of fashions IN THE LORD'S OWN EYES, so that NOW it IS there! So HE regards it, an astonishing thing! Associated with this sudden birth of a nation, is the peace proposed for it and the fury exposed to defend it against those who seek to overcome that nation (Isaiah 66:14ff.). By force, the Lord will meet at last their force and defending it, invite the Gentiles to give praise for its deliverance. As to the Church, the Lord re moves it while He prepares for His crusade against the antichrist, and it comes with Him (Revelation 19:8ff.,11ff.).

When it finds peace, this restored nation, no longer in terms of its great city, a subject of mourning (Isaiah 66:10), but restored, renewed, new-recreated, God does not suffer its overthrow. He acts. He does NOT pour out fury on the offending nation in Gospel terms, but to protect that same peace of the new nation, restored to where it was in the first place (cf. Ezekiel 37-39). Not in spiritual wooing, it is, but rather He engages in military enterprises of indignation to slay the enemy. In fact, He is talking as so clearly in Ezekiel 36-39 and Micah 7 of the nation covenanted, disciplined, dispersed, returned, suddenly restored to nationhood, assailed and then, as here, defended with indignation and with fury, as in Ezekiel 38-39, leaving many slain. It is this where the action may be found, and it is associated as a distinct and different phase with their restoration in spirit (Zech. 12:10 quite diverse from the wars differently described in 12:4ff., as in Ezekiel 39, and quite opaque to the concept of conversion, for it is blood that flows and not a matter of tears (Isaiah 66:15-16, Ezekiel 38:9-21).

In this case, there is a Jerusalem for whom all are mourning, to whom the Lord brings comfort in the return of His people to it, where they were before; and this this given peace and new joy in restoration, becomes a source for which, nay as it is personal, for whom He uses indignant and scattering power on the slain enemy. To a restored site, He thus brings comfort that does not pass, and when this is exposed to the assaults of the enemy, in due time, He assails the assailants who, heedless of long warning over the millenia, insist on being brought to ruin (as in Micah 7 likewise), by presumptuous exercise of power, as if God did not exist. So far from being forever in mercy patient, God in judgment provides the end of the program amid the nation of Israel and the other nations, setting folly to rest in reality, as so often before throughout history, whether in the world flood or in the ruin of northern Israel, or the exile of Judah, or indeed in the long dispersion of Israel, now to be so comforted, and this to the point of crisis, as they again seek the face of the Lord and find Him, as in Zech. 12. When THAT happens, we hear not of indignation, but of spiritual tenderness (as in Jeremiah 31:18ff., and Zech 12:10-14).

When however the nations riot once more to seethe Israel in its own milk, and assail her, the Lord provides the power, as in the creation, as in the redemption; and He does so on account of that nation for which He is multiply plighted to act, so fulfilling the covenant to Abraham. With the dead bones distributed across the earth as in Ezekiel 36-37, God acts first to bring them back to their land, and then in their conversion, shown in the second command in Ezekiel 37, to bring "life" to the re-assembled "bones" brought back to their homeland for their boneland (Ezekiel 37:9-14). This leads on to the international assault and revolt of Ezekiel 38-39.

So does He bring a nation at once, and so does He intend bring it back to spiritual life, and to defend it, not only in triumphant battles as in Zechariah 12 (preceding 12:10), but in direct confrontation in His own power, as in Ezekiel, Isaiah, Deuteronomy, Micah and Joel 3:12-17. Again and again the Lord repeats it: one result of His action is this. It is that they may KNOW that He is the Lord, know that He brought them out and brought them back as in Ezekiel 39:27-29. There is no other such nation, and there is no excuse for confusion in these contexts. Israel will know what the Lord has done (Ezekiel 39:22). Moreover, the nations will "My judgment which I have executed, and My hand which I have laid on them," Ezekiel 39:21. Indeed, they also will know that Israel went into captivity, from which it is now gloriously returned, because of their iniquity. It was "because they were unfaithful to Me," 39:23, that God hid His face from them and gave them into the hand of His enemies. It was not some national matter, or ground of pride; it was divine discipline directed against Israel, as now it is in turn and in parallel exercised against her inveterate and militant, chronic persecutors.

They do not hear, who seek to dismember Israel, taking Jordan's land from Palestine, making pressure for more, as Israel divests itself willingly of Sinai and of Gaza; and yet in voracity, they mount and seek more and yet more, never satisfied, whether with the colossal gift made by the UN in 1947, making of Israel little islands and removing Jerusalem from their site as their city, or with that made with President Clinton in the case of Arafat in the Camp David enterprise. NO! they have said, not taking as a GIFT these amazing surrenders of land and city. Instead, they have warred and lost as divinely prescribed. While Israel waits before her vast moment of conversion of very many, the powers that be, the Quartet, the Arab, the Islamic nations, they desire more, they demand place, they will not rest. It was not enough that Jordan opened her doors to the displaced from the small slice of Palestine Israel gained, left from the gift of more than half to Jordan in the 1920s. No, for it was not mere lion's share they wanted. Instead, even from Jordan, they had to war on Israel, even from there, till all but causing a civil war in that land, they were no longer received.

It is not enough that Gaza is freely restored; they have to war from there. There is only war. It is not enough that Sinai is largely restored. They have to creep in from Egypt for more war.

It is no surprise that this incessant chatter whether of words or guns, will be met in due course. In the intemperance of coming assault, will be the result, and it is the divine power which will deliver Israel. When GOD disciplines a people, it is His affair. When other nations seek to clamour and conquer, they appear as bullies, and their time too, it comes (cf. Jeremiah 50:28-34, Isaiah 51:21-23). God has plans. ALL the earth is His. It is spiritual madness (cf. Hosea 9:7) to contest a small portion of this earth with Him, and to say NO! on the basis not only of no objectively demonstrably word, but even contrary to what objectively demonstrable as His word^*2.

Yet the nations rush on as has been foretold of them, in ruinous renegacy, unable to hear, unwilling to heed like those adolescents, young people, who blast their own ears with savage or invasive music, till their hearing is impaired. Will they listen to the uproar of their own hearts and will false prophets persuade ? Are the dauntless, multitudinous Islamic or quasi-Islamic nations making clandestine or confrontational invasion of Israel a way of life, so to act that it is all to be translated into a way of death ? Will they not hear ? Is this to be one more component of the domain of dynamic death to enslave so many in this world in its day as in Revelation 6 ? like a macabre Mexican Hat Dance, lunging and relunging at death, in a mordant thrill, a dance out of life itself. Is life so to be made a play-thing, and death a march!

What of that prophecy in Revelation 6:3-4 ? It is a matter of death as a way of life ? So the deadly dynamic moves, as if a horseman were sent out, "and it was granted to the one who sat on it to take peace from the earth, and that people should kill one another, and there was given to him a great sword."

It is deadly, a polluted peril, and it becomes a pitiful end to searing passion. Terrorists of varied backgrounds, but often of this or that Islamic clique, passion, pogrom or program seek to shred at Israel or wreak havoc on any nation or people which dares to support her, or to have variant views on genocide, while seeking to intimidate or even on occasion, to replace laws of freedom with their own lore, so acting to paralyse friends of Israel. Bin Laden of Al-Qaeda was quite explicit about this point of terrorism, to subdue Israel's friends, while holding in the eye vision of territories once held under the sword or scimitar of Islam (cf. Lord of Life, Ch. 8).

The world, whether in Beast I or Beast II, precisely as predicted in Revelation 13:1-14, is obsessed with a swagger and a thrust to oppress mere truth by fear and by violence. Indeed, for it is as if "truth lies fallen in the street," as noted in Isaiah 59, before the ensuing assault of the Lord on this reckless renegacy from truth and equity (Isaiah 59:15-21). The Lord can keep accounts where truth is dismissed and evil is propounded (Isaiah 59:18). When He is ready, He acts (cf. Isaiah 64:4-5).

But what of the growing human lust for the land, for the name, for the site, for the prestige, for the power, for the taking of the land of the Lord's chosen people (Genesis 17:7-8), for His chosen purpose and in His chosen program ? It is not all in one package. It is multiform, and multifarious, this grasping, rasping attitude which disrupts peace, glories in war, is insatiate, insatiable (cf. The Divine Agenda Ch. 6).

Rule becomes the work of desire, reinforced by alternative tributaries whether of atheistic flamboyance, as for example, seeking to take over the culture of Australia, telling "truth" where their model can have none, or of self-contradicting agnostic obsessions as if it were true or could be, that where truth is not to be found, on a given model on systematic grounds, it is yet the truth that proclaims it!

The nations when not killing their own people - Germany (many of the Jews WERE its own people), the USSR, China became magnificent examples of guilt, and when not seeking to invade each other - millions slain in the repulse: then have other things to do. They spend time in many cases, to organise their anti-truth, their proclamations about things, based on nothing, kicking like a fractious horse at God's very image (cf. Dastardly Dynamics ... Ch. 10). They have shut-downs on creationism and systematic Bible knowledge, preferring very often blistering and irrelevant, unknowledgeable and propagandising assaults, so that the source both of man and of his humanity might be expelled. It assuredly appears that even Europe from its constitutional crisis, is finding it to hard to formulate where it is going: just that they will go there together! (The Grating Grandeur ... Ch. 7, Christ, the Cumulative and the Culmination Ch. 4, ). They are to have ... a 'common destiny'.

The world mocks the God necessary for man's salvation; and reality in return gives it financial or cultural or moral or religious concussion, or some medley of the same, to the point. Yet this world wonders, scratches its head, kicks with its feet, oppresses rather more, or perhaps less, turns over and goes into fitful slumber once more.

While this Volume concentrates on the anti-Israel phase of the passion for non-conformity to the word of the living and all-powerful God of the Bible, this mood and movement is also to be seen, in the dynamics of past and parallel pollutions, belched out by the spiritual blast-furnace of a world varying between insensate passions, moods of depression, cunning deceits, illusory dreams and predatory devilries. Small wonder James indicates that a friend of this world is no friend of God (James 4:4). Nor is it in the least surprising that Jesus the Christ declared that the prince of this world has NOTHING in Him! (John 14:30).

It is realised that for every million slain (whether by hunger from simple lack of food or this through military intervention to prevent its coming and distribution, or from missiles, or from invasion, or raids), there is an indeterminable crowd of those wounded, a large number of these providing additives to misery, additions to pain or accretions to agony, or long-term anguish or both! It is one whether it is iran and Iraq, locked at loggerheads while many heads, young and old, perish; or brutality in the Sudan, or in China, or in Zimbabwe, or in India, or Somalia, or Afghanistan, or deceit in Pakistan, as would appear from the high-profile keeping of a jointly sought enemy, near a military base! Were the soldiers asleep ? the commanders inert ? the military intelligence preoccupied ? It would not seem in the least degree likely. One should never under-estimate those with whom one has to do. So it goes on, militant, ready in many cases to hack or hinder Christians, churches, pastors, forbid the Gospel, or even Christian prayer as apparently happened in the case of the Gulf war in Saudi Arabia. Should a free nation submit to such strictures when helping a nation at peril! The world, when not roaring and soaring witlessly aloft, seems to be gliding like a stricken plane, unable or unwilling even to consider its landing place.

The terms of truth, the gift of God, the Saviour who came, the Book, that Bible which lasts under every scrutiny, the foretelling and the forthtelling which cannot be faulted, it continues like a Lecturer, bent over his notes, in the little light on his desk, till it is finished. But this lecture, it is from the Lord.

He speaks, and always acts accordingly. He gives notice, warning, exhortation, appeal, information. But this world, it will not listen! It has agendas competing to take over from God, whether He be given lip-service (Isaiah 29:13), or just lip (Malachi 2-3). It is rapidly approaching the direct confrontation with God of Revelation 19:19!

It is like traffic light, but in the auditory level: if you will not heed, what can you expect but collisions^*2. Not heeding does not reduce the pain afterwards, nor does it lend wisdom to wilfulness. Where passion precludes even pity, alas, O world, you see why Jesus did not pray for this world, its systems, its silliness (cf. Hosea 7:11), with its rankness and its rancour (John 17:9); but rather did He pray for those who have heeded, do heed and who will heed the word of God , and in the Creator-Redeemer, put their unqualified trust, following the written word of God (Matthew 5:17-20, John 14:26, 17:6-8), in the power of the Saviour (Ephesians 1:19), which is sufficient, while seeking always to do the very will of God (Matthew 7:21ff.), from the heart (Ephesians 6:6).

Thank God for His many works, not least from the first, laws of right and wrong.
You are saved by grace, without works, but faith works, and it abides in the word of God.

Thank God therefore for the changeless truth, our gap from it, paid for when by faith Christ is taken;
but we do not seek wilfully to increase that gap, but in delight, rejoice in the
morality, spirituality, godliness and word of God, in all its unchanging clarity and sanctity.

Israel, the nation, was used to provide the first covenant,
and indeed the Christ in His incarnation (Romans 9:4ff.),
and it is far from being the only one to fail to find
in Him and in His words, all that He has provided
(Romans 10:1ff., Romans 6:23, Matthew 24:22, Luke 21:24).

Past all presidents is the resident reality of the truth and ways of God,
spoken in the Bible, enacted in Christ, bound by His word and applicable to one and to all.

Never forget that OUR only ultimate President came via Israel,
as did His law, and though many suffer, it is not in vain,
for Christ did not come to abrogate but to fulfil (Matthew 5:17ff.),
and in Him only and always, unchangeable,
filled with grace and truth, there is rest, in Him only, for one and for all.
Many have fallen, and which nation now has not done so! But Christ remains.

Hussein of Jordan has been a peace-broker, Clinton of the U.S., a power-broker, Netanyahu a merchandiser, ostensibly at least of land for peace. If the peace is not suitable, where goes the land ? The land, it appears from Arafat, the peace invader, is quite suitable. What is the significance of these developments ?

Amidst all but endless strife, strife about Oslo agreements, about failure to keep conditions, rules, about riots, about terrorists, about deaths, about grisly disregard of life and impositions on children, desire for peace and prohibition of peace, desire for security and invasion of security, desire for breathing space in the Jewish allotment called Israel, and desire to breath that space on the part of others, we now find amidst the marvellous handshaking and President Clintonesque intonations, a further blatancy.

While Benjamin Netanyahu requires a "halt to the street violence and a public renunciation by Mr Arafat of polans to unilaterally declare a Palestinian State, Mr Arafat now enunciates something rather different: "We will declare a Palestinaian State... with Jerusalem its capital", to the pacific Fatah movement. Perhaps France will declare England to be privileged to participate in a French State, with London the capital.

It is at least a variant to find Jerusalem and not just East Jerusalem in this Jules Verne provincialisation of the land God gave to the Jews. Peace ? It is simply unavailable while there is war with God; religion is no more up for grabs than physics, and indeed rather less so! (see News 40).

Meta-religion is met with and it is in vain to seek to dismantle what God has decreed. Experiments of this kind litter history; they do little more.

With 15 reported killed in Jerusalem, while at least 20 were slain, in Israel's northern town of Motzkin, in suicide bomb attacks that also injured many on August 9 and 12, the latter on the patio of a restaurant, there have been developments. It would seem all but predictably, as Secretary General of the UN, Annan has a sour thought for Israel, of all people after such afflictions... for them. It is unwise, quoth he, to occupy Palestinian institutions in Jerusalem, since this could cause greater friction. (Orient House PLO headquarters in Jerusalem, was one occupied by Israel after these events.)

Is this, however, not like saying that when a bomb lands near the UN building in New York, or Buckingham Palace in England, when some people given transient occupation rights in some buildings are aflame with passionate hate and together with their allies, with fires of destruction, both international and well financed, that really it is excessive to close down the buildings concerned!

Or is it simply assumed that Israel is not in Israel, is not a country, has not like so many other countries, taken what it deems its own, while now proceeding to govern it ? If so, on what grounds is such an assumption made ?

Is it this, that like so many other countries, it has only won wars ? Or on what other grounds ?
that it is bearing with fortitude extraordinary the endless provocations of those who, having been given freely much of what Israel gained, itself diminished far below the Palestine promised after World War I, and that internationally, so that now it should distintegrate even more than it has willingly suffered, to aid peace ? and that it should not try to protect is people, a task as Vice-President Cheney of the US began to note, in its defence ?

God however does this, and His word is clear on Israel, on its discipline, and on those who presume to take over that job for themselves! (see SMR Ch. 9, Beauty of Holiness Ch. 5, Endnote 3, and It Bubbles, It Howls, He Calls ... Ch. 1, Endnote 2).

The assumptions underlying the UN words on this topic are too often found to be prodigious in disregard of this remnant from the crucifying grounds of Hitler, in the midst of the vast Islamic lands, and to appear discriminatory and unrealistic, as well as unbiblical and historically inept.

The incredible and ludicrous presumptions of amorphous internationalism, without objective moral basis*, without Biblical truth and without any way to reach truth to that extent, declaring ... But that is the question... The current desire to make Zionism sound like racism needs a little thought! Will the US eventually play along and attend such a conference ?

Reckless human racism, not mere racism amongst humans, but racism OF humans, by them and for them: this has almost no bounds, and when man plays God, you can be sure of one thing: peace is evacuated! Such is now the case.

While much has been written concerning Israel since this volume has published, it seems good to add the following two chapters from Bay of Retractable Islands, Mission for the Mainland, namely 18 and 19. In that work, attention is paid to the drifting of islands from the mainland of what might be called nuclear biblical exegesis: that is, explanation of passages in their own terms, without addition or subtraction from tradition, fancy, preference, but only in the constraints of the context, both immediate and in the whole scope of scripture.

It is then found that many intractable and competitive extremes become once more part of the non-extremist mainland. The only extreme desirable, is extreme attention in fidelity to what is written. Applied to Israel, this produces valuable results. This addition now appears as Chs. 1 and 2 in Volume 2 (see below).

The folly, sometimes found in Pentecostal circles, of making it appear that being slain of the Lord is some kind of spiritual slaughter, associated with swooning away, is not textually accurate or defensible as shown in the text above. It is imperative in these days the more, not to allow any unchecked or unsustainable romance or feeling to take charge, for in the current mood, many may be taken from orthodoxy, by mere casual regard for movements not only unwarranted from the word of God, but leading in unknown directions. To build on the rock, you KEEP to what GOD has said (cf. Proverbs 30:6). The rock-shock of discipline in the word of God is nothing compared with the sand-slip of foundering without this precise foundation, Christ according to His word (I Corinthians 3:11, Matthew 5:17ff., 7:15ff.,21ff.).
