THE PROCLAMATION OF PEACE
and the
INSTIGATION OF WAR

The STATE is SET

It is of course a very interesting document, The Declaration of the Establishment of the State of Israel, May 14,  1948. Its beginning alone is a combination of elements, presented in an almost religious train:

"The Land of Israel was the birthplace of the Jewish people. Here their spiritual, religious and political identity was shaped. Here they first attained to statehood, created cultural values of national and universal significance and gave to the world the eternal Book of Books.
"After being forcibly exiled from their land, the people kept faith with it throughout their Dispersion and never ceased to pray and hope for the return to it and for the restoration in it of their political freedom.

"Impelled by this historic and traditional attachment, Jews strove in every successive generation to re-establish themselves in their ancient homeland. In recent decades they returned in their  masses. Pioneers, defiant returnees, and defenders, they made deserts bloom, revived Hebrew language, built villages and towns, and created a thriving community controlling its own economy and culture, loving peace but knowing how to defend itself, bringing the blessings of progress to the country's inhabitants, and aspiring towards independent nationhood."

It proceeds to outline Theodore Herzl First Zionist Congress of 1987, the proclamation of the right of the Jewish people to national rebirth in its own country; the Balfour Declaration of Nov. 2, 1917, and the urgency of solving the problem following the "massacre of millions of Jews in Europe", which through this return, "would open the gates of the homeland wide to every Jew and confer upon the Jewish people the status of a fully privileged member of the community of nations."

It voices the point that in World War II, "the Jewish community of this country contributed its full share to the struggle of the freedom- and peace-loving nations against the forces of Nazi wickedness and, by the blood of its solders and their effort, gained the right to be reckoned among the peoples who founded the United Nations." It notes the 1947 UN General Assembly resolution calling for the establishment of  Jewish State in Eretz-Israel, one calling for the inhabitants of the land to take such steps as were necessary, an irrevocable step.

It goes on to declare that from May 15, 1948, until the elected government should come, there would be a Provisional Council of State, looking forward to very early elections.  It then makes an amazing declaration: it is that the State of Israel " WILL BE BASED ON FREEDOM, JUSTICE AND PEACE AS ENVISAGED BY THE PROPHETS OF ISRAEL; IT WILL ENSURE COMPLETE EQUALITY OF SOCIAL AND POLITICAL RIGHTS TO ALL ITS INHABITANTS IRRESPECTIVE OF RELIGION, RACE OR SEX; IT WILL GUARANTEE FREEDOM OF RELIGION, CONSCIENCE, LANGUAGE, EDUCATION AND CULTURE...."

It would safeguard holy places and regard the principles of the Charter of the UN.

It was Prime Minister, Netanyahu who in a political speech, made clear the importance of the Jewish prophets, whose word was fulfilled in the restoration of Israel.

The SOUND of ASPIRATION and the RASP of RESPIRATION

As one reads former Prime Minister Ben Gurion's massive, detailed work on the topic of Israel, and the long routines of Middle East reporting since then, and realises both the long and arduous labours to the ends of the 1948 Declaration, and the repeated, concerted efforts of many Arab nations to subvert, to overcome, to invade, to thrust into the sea, to blockade, to subject to rocket attack, to gang themselves into marauding millionaires of oil-rich invasive forces, contributing money to internal assassins and revolutionaries within Israel's borders, blasting stores and blighting lives, a sort of residue of hatred from Hitler's well, but with territorial aspirations for Islam, a most unliberating religion wholly foreign to the Declaration of the Establishment of the State of Israel; as one reads of the passionate anger of those wanting to blow themselves up if only they might blight lives of Israeli citizens, young and old; of the Bush War on Terrorism, so curtailed in this case for varied reasons no doubt; and sees the world wobble on its wicked way... there is a certain flavour.

What is that flavour ?

It is a very old flavour, not at all New Age. It is a complex of desire to grab; revenge against Israel, that it should dare to re-exist in the Middle East, when only some 76.9% of the Palestinian land*1 pledged to it by the Balfour Declaration and subsequent international action was taken by Arab States (Jordan at the outset) for their very own; of inveterate Arab desire for land; hatred of success, for Israel has commercially been most successful, its science, agriculture and reclamation having led the world in many ways; of passion for Islam, to remove freedom and enforce its unsanctified dictates,  its body maiming, its women suppressing, its invasive and violent ways known of yore, and continually exemplified today; of Muslim desire for more status, stature and consequence, and hence more land; of revenge for the victories of Israel, when Arab and Islamic nations wanted and sought by armour, explicitly to exterminate it; of international lust for peace in the region, for the better to take your oil; of many things.

The flavour it is intoxicating to many, toxic for all; it has a strange reminiscence of Auschwitz, by other means, a sort of invasive concentration camp, seeking to meddle with freedom and subjugate the Jew, to force his acquiescence with the often harshly authoritarian regimes of the area. It would invent hatreds instead of citizenry, strife instead of prosperity, factions for fervour and blood, mixed, one part each in equal concentrations, and above all, GET THEM OUT AND US IN, ON OUR TERMS.

It is not pretty. The international lagging on this aspect of the War on Terrorism*2is a ghoulish thing to regard. Little better is the underlying world tendency to seek some sort of submission to Terror IN THIS CASE ONLY, so that the lives of the slain would become the pen that extradites liberty and institutes even more land grabs, leaving even less, until it would be difficult to see how any diplomat's face could be other than red, not from sun burn, but heart burn, not because of indigestion, but digestion, the digestion of the situation in its appalling twisting torment of inconsistency, compromise and expediency.

The STAGE IS SET

Now, June 4, 2002,  we read of secret meetings in England, between representatives of the Arabs and Israel, NOT including the Likud Party of PM Sharon, with a view to learning from the Irish 'peace' process, the art and artful ways of removing the layers of the onion, until perhaps its smell is less odorous, as in Ireland, so that blood can buy off principle, and terror can achieve submission. Perhaps when there is no onion left, there will be less smell, less tear-inducing obviousness about Israel, there, there! Alas, oh grief, what a calamity! This has been the Islamic response; it is useless to pretend.

To be sure, in Ireland, there have been two main ills: the dominant force of Romanism, moving in a multitude, never satisfied with any other love or thrust, with most of Ireland ensconced in its wiles; and the too politically vigorous force of Protestantism, too close to theocratic, but at least liberating tongues and pens from censorship of the most barbaric. Yet force marred it, and reaction to horrendous, soul searing IRA violence tainted it.

Now what of Northern Island, a Protestant part of Protestant Britain ? It is to GO, GO and GO, for has not Britain also long since gone, in its Anglican servile sequences of submissiveness towards the triple idolatry of Rome (A Question of Gifts, VII), so that even at the 50th anniversary celebrations for Queen Elizabeth we read of the Royal Family going to 'ecumenical services', so that the legally PROTESTANT family moves freely, now as too often before, into the acknowledgment of what it is instituted to prevent. Roaming to Rome, free in its embrace, the Island Fortress has left it moat, built its Chunnel, made its tunnel, and tunnelling into Europe, it has all things in common, in solemn danger of being like so many others which never shared its centuries of (comparative) glory, free among the dead (cf. The Other News 13).

No more is England Protestant, but in name (cf. Wake Up World!... Ch. 3). It is like those so brilliant combinations of Communism and others, where the whole aim is to remove the others, since Communism is monolithic. So here, the papacy is likewise; and it knows no bounds, nor could it,  in view of its anti-biblical claims (cf. SMR pp. 1032ff., 911ff.), this-worldly diplomacies, famous for centuries in terms of the Jesuits, who have even lent their name to 'jesuitical', and their ways to casuistry, mental reservations, the end justifying the means and other badges of dishonour to truth.

Will Israel then learn, in England, of such masterpieces of progress ? It is hoped that she will not. It is not from the wisdom of this world, but of the Maker of it that Israel should learn. IS THIS NOT WHAT ITS DECLARATION OF ESTABLISHMENT SAYS ? that it will be " WILL BE BASED ON FREEDOM, JUSTICE AND PEACE AS ENVISAGED BY THE PROPHETS OF ISRAEL..."

The prophets of Israel assuredly had in mind no liberty which was at war with God, as this world already manifestly is,

Quite the contrary, the prophets of Israel sought a justice in which the sacrifice of the Messiah was the keystone and indeed as Isaiah put it, foundation stone (Isaiah 28:16), and He led and was loved (Isaiah 55:1-4), where GOD ALONE got the glory (Isaiah 2) and where peace was a result of obedience to His commands by faith accepted, in faith performed, in mercy acceptable (Isaiah 48:16-22).

Let us hear this last scripture:

Who can read such a thing and not be brought near to tears. The longing is indeed back of some of the heart-stirring music in the Declaration of the Establishment of the State of Israel, but the word of the prophet is clear and it is celestial, not terrestrial. It leaps past earth to heaven, and moves melodiously down to earth with a peace which is indeed readily breachable, acutely teachable, but NOT reachable without FIRST of all submission to the will of the Lord, love of the dedicated delights of the Lord, who does not at all wish the death of the wicked (Ezekiel 33:11), nor willingly afflict the children of men (Lamentations 3:33), and even brings in the weightier matters of the law in their proper primacy as justice and mercy (Hosea 6:6, cited by Christ in Matthew 9:13).

Submission ? not as to an iron fist, but as to a rose in its intricate effulgences, composite magnificences of aroma, depth, variety and that special idiosyncrasy of beauty which grasps the mind and ravishes the soul, because of that same thing that brought Wordsworth to tears, as the wonders of creation declared themselves to his ready spirit.

To be sure, inveterate unbelief crucifies the beautiful, and the beauty of holiness is covered in smog, not in itself, but in any approach by the relentless recidivist from the religion of realism, that truth where God Himself, the God who acts, is the source, the Saviour and the Provider. On this, consider another of the words of the prophets mentioned in the Declaration:

"For since the beginning of the world,
Men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear,
Nor has the eye seen any God besides  You,
Who acts for the one who waits for Him.
You meet him who rejoices and does righteousness,
Who remembers You in Your ways..."
(Isaiah 64:4-5).

The solution is justice and mercy in the revealed Redeemer, so that one loves one's enemies, and prays for them, obeys the Lord who loved, and keeps His commandments neither out of self-interest nor out of craven fear, but out of the delight which is in the Lord, the Rose of Sharon. If people disbelieve, we neither hate them nor harry them, but still seek their good; but we cannot join with them. If people invade, the nation may have to defend itself, but not with malice, but love for its citizenry, for liberty and for the Lord, lest the worship be molested. If other peoples want to follow idols, we do not invade. If they want to use idols to invade by aeroplanes or rockets, then these must be removed. But it is not to 'convert' them, by such means, but to deter*4.

Has Israel then a lesson to learn ? Yes, but it is not from the disintegrating religious attitude of official Great Britain. It is from its own prophets, whose focus on Christ, and prediction of His death date is manifest (Isaiah 52-53, Daniel 9, SMR pp. 886ff.). What is it like ? It is like a housewife, her eyes glued for Winter sales, who spends hours and days preparing for her scoop, and when it comes, she is knitting quietly by the fire, and does not observe, nor notice, nor does the matter even arise in her mind. Israel has missed what it was made for; and it was TOLD it would do so (Isaiah 49:7, 52-53, 65:13-15). It is time to repent. The PROPHETS have told of it (Ezekiel 38-40, Zech. 12:10, Deuteronomy 32:40ff.), even her own!

THERE IS NO OTHER SOLUTION

There IS no other solution. To Britain ? Its failure is a part of the problem, and has been so especially since the disreputable events of 1948, the misuse of the British Navy to harass returning Israelites, and the failure to make a credible transition, using rather the Arab Legion than real trustworthiness! To the UN ? Its laughable lording over the situation, removing Jerusalem from the Jew at the 1947 outset, and assigning separated tracts ? Its irreligious religiosity, its syncretistic humanism ? from this the Jew can learn ? As well learn of water from an empty well, a cracked cistern.

The Jew then ? It is not from himself (as Britain tended to learn, after World War II, when its 'glory' seemed geared up), that he is to learn. Man who trusts in his own heart, says the Wisdom of God, is a fool! (Proverbs 28:26). Like all men, the unconverted Jew must return to the living waters, or in the word of the prophet, learn this lesson and APPLY IT NOW! (Jeremiah 2:10-19):

“ 'What injustice have your fathers found in Me,
That they have gone far from Me,
Have followed idols,
And have become idolaters?
Neither did they say,
"Where is the Lord,
Who brought us up out of the land of Egypt,
Who led us through the wilderness,
Through a land of deserts and pits,
Through a land of drought and the shadow of death,
Through a land that no one crossed
And where no one dwelt?"
" 'I brought you into a bountiful country,
To eat its fruit and its goodness.
But when you entered, you defiled My land
And made My heritage an abomination.
The priests did not say, ‘Where is the Lord?’
And those who handle the law did not know Me;
The rulers also transgressed against Me;
The prophets prophesied by Baal,
And walked after things that do not profit.

" 'Therefore I will yet bring charges against you,' says the Lord,
'And against your children’s children I will bring charges.
For pass beyond the coasts of Cyprus and see,
Send to Kedar and consider diligently,
And see if there has been such a thing.

" 'Has a nation changed its gods,
Which are not gods?
But My people have changed their Glory
For what does not profit.
Be astonished, O heavens, at this,
And be horribly afraid;
Be very desolate,' says the Lord.

“ 'For My people have committed two evils:
They have forsaken Me, the fountain of living waters,
And hewn themselves cisterns - broken cisterns that can hold no water.

“ 'Is Israel a servant?
Is he a homeborn slave?
Why is he plundered?
The young lions roared at him, and growled;
They made his land waste;
His cities are burned, without inhabitant.
Also the people of Noph and Tahpanhes
Have broken the crown of your head.
Have you not brought this on yourself,
In that you have forsaken the Lord your God
When He led you in the way?

" 'And now why take the road to Egypt,
To drink the waters of Sihor?
Or why take the road to Assyria,
To drink the waters of the River?
Your own wickedness will correct you,
And your backslidings will rebuke you.

" 'Know therefore and see that it is an evil and bitter thing
That you have forsaken the Lord your God,
And the fear of Me is not in you,'
Says the Lord God of hosts."

Because of the exquisite sorrow and the lamentable grief from glory, one has taken the unusual step of making red the traffic light which MUST NOT be ignored.

Is Israel then to be seeking where the glory also is departing (cf. Ezekiel 10), moving as it is,  from Great Britain because in its greatness - and it has been great indeed - it also is turning in vast official ways from the living God to idols, or their toleration, or some combination. It is not there that its hope is to be found, in the hollow forms and synthetic norms of mutablility, any more than in itself, in its own social psyche or nation or power or perception, in the present any more than in the past! It is not in man who walks to direct his own paths (Jeremiah 10:23).

Is it in the US, with its pragmatism and Moslem-merging talk ? Other idols, are these to be imported from abroad for the better desolation of the nation; it has not had enough of them ? (cf. More Marvels ... Ch. 4).

What did the prophet Isaiah say of trusting in the powers of this world, in secular myths instead of sacred truth, in Him whose it is ?

This ...

" 'Woe to the rebellious children,' says the LORD,
'Who take counsel, but not of Me,
And who devise plans, but not of My Spirit,
That they may add sin to sin,
Who walk to go down to Egypt,
And have not asked My advice...' "

(Isaiah 30:1-2), and again (31:1-5):

"Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help,
And rely on horses,
Who trust in chariots because they are many,
And in horsemen because they are very strong,
But who do not look to the Holy One of Israel,
Nor seek the Lord!

"Yet He also is wise and will bring disaster,
And will not call back His words,
But will arise against the house of evildoers,
And against the help of those who work iniquity.

"Now the Egyptians are men, and not God;
And their horses are flesh, and not spirit.
When the Lord stretches out His hand,
Both he who helps will fall,
And he who is helped will fall down;
They all will perish together.

"For thus the Lord has spoken to me:

'As a lion roars,
And a young lion over his prey
(When a multitude of shepherds is summoned against him,
He will not be afraid of their voice
Nor be disturbed by their noise),
So the Lord of hosts will come down
To fight for Mount Zion and for its hill.
Like birds flying about,
So will the Lord of hosts defend Jerusalem.

" 'Defending, He will also deliver it;
Passing over, He will preserve it. ' ”

WHERE IS WISDOM!

Where then is wisdom and where is the place of it to be found ? as Job asked (Job 28:12).
Let us hear his discourse:

 “But where can wisdom be found?
And where is the place of understanding?
Man does not know its value,
Nor is it found in the land of the living.

"The deep says, ‘It is not in me’;
And the sea says, ‘It is not with me.’
It cannot be purchased for gold,
Nor can silver be weighed for its price.
It cannot be valued in the gold of Ophir,
In precious onyx or sapphire.

"Neither gold nor crystal can equal it,
Nor can it be exchanged for jewelry of fine gold.
No mention shall be made of coral or quartz,
For the price of wisdom is above rubies.
The topaz of Ethiopia cannot equal it,
Nor can it be valued in pure gold.

“From where then does wisdom come?
And where is the place of understanding?
It is hidden from the eyes of all living,
And concealed from the birds of the air.
Destruction and Death say,
‘We have heard a report about it with our ears.’

God understands its way,
And He knows its place.
For He looks to the ends of the earth,
And sees under the whole heavens,
To establish a weight for the wind,
And apportion the waters by measure.

"When He made a law for the rain,
And a path for the thunderbolt,
Then He saw wisdom and declared it;
He prepared it, indeed, He searched it out.

"And to man He said,
‘Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom,
And to depart from evil is understanding.’ ”

Here then is wisdom, as Solomon also attests: the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and wisdom fears God (deep, reverential, worshipful respect and clean, clear adoration as in the Psalms). This we find the clear and unequivocal teaching, solemn like organ music, dainty like the lark, direct like the rising sun, in Ecclesiastes 12:13-14, Psalm 110:11, Proverbs 9:10.

In what however is this clean fear of the Lord to be observed ? In the keeping of His commandments, for a good understanding have those who so do (Psalm 110). To be sure. What are some of these ? ONE ? HAVE NO OTHER GODS; worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness; heed the prophet sent, the Messiah, and so avoid being CUT OFF (Deuteronomy 18); LOVE the Lord with all your heart and soul and mind and strength and your neighbour as yourself ? Yes, certainly as in Deuteronomy 6:5 and Leviticus 19:18. Receive therefore the GIFT of God's love, in the Messiah, who was cut off so that we might be received in (Isaiah 52-53).

He has come. He was given, but the sale continues, the sale of the human soul.

The cry continues. For Israel, from the Lord, for this people to return to the living waters where they are, and to repent of their abominable act, their stupefying act: surely they have paid. Must they suffer yet more and more ? WIll they not hear "Comfort ye, My people!" (Isaiah 40 which shows the Messiah so clearly and justly in 40:10), not even yet! As in Jeremiah, is it not read, "Woe to you, O Jerusalem? Will you not be made clean ? When shall it once be ?" (Jeremiah 13:27).

Why should the nation drink of woe any more ? Is it not that it has forsaken its own Messiah, its very own, born in the tribe of Judah, in Bethlehem (Micah 5:1-4, Genesis 49:9-10), sold for 30 pieces of silver (Zechariah 9), who came on an ass's colt Zech. 9:9), of whom the people chanted, Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord (Psalm 118:26), taking from that deep draught found in Psalm 118:16-23), so deep in the Messiah, like some macro-Loch Ness, not with a monster, but this time a marvel. The earth is deep, but the heaven is high; and the significance of inspiration is precisely this, that God is able to speak to the speaker called man, that He made. Shall not He who made the ear hear, or the heart understand ? Can He not speak who made words and contributed the organs for intellection ? (cf. Psalm 94:8-11).

Has not  the Lord Himself suffered and died as programmed, but personally and with grief (as in Isaiah 50-55, Psalm 22, Psalm 40 the entry - Joyful Jottings 21-25)!

Will the mockers blow it up ? Will the infants be devoured by the terrible ? Will the idols blast with their devotees' protoplasm, the errant gift of the deluded, as they smash their own bodies, in one loveless lust of hate! Is this what Israel by indolence towards the living God, is asking for ? There is no power in them, but in God, who drafts events, and awaits the CRY, and the CALL ON THE NAME OF THE LORD (Acts 2:21 from Joel 2). Or will not Israel now repent and find wisdom IN ITS PLACE, where it is to be found, as JOB FOUND, and as SOLOMON prescribed, as David predicted, as Daniel declared in detail! (Highway of Holiness Ch. 4).

Is Israel to seek "freedom, justice and peace as envisaged by the prophets of Israel", as in its Declaration, and if so, what of Malachi’s challenge (1:6) ?

"A son honours his father,
And a servant his master.
If then I am the Father,
Where is My honour?
And if I am a Master,
Where is My reverence?"
Where is the justice in His sidelining ?

Where is the peace in His distancing ? Is it not in the Messiah, the son of David, that the prophet Isaiah declares THIS! (9:7,bold added):

"Of the increase of His government and peace,
There will be no end,
Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom,
To order it, and establish it with judgment and justice,
From that time forward, even forever.
The zeal of the LORD of hosts will accomplish this."

(See With Heart and Soul, Mind and Strength, Chs. 4-7).

"How could one chase a thousand,
And two put ten thousand to flight,
Unless their Rock had sold them…?"

asks Moses (Deut. 32:30), as he indicts the people for unbelief, injustice to His truth, dishonour to His majesty, the setting of non-gods, like the secular myths, where only GOD belongs! (Deut. 32:15,17,21).

It is time for Israel to call on the name which GAVE them their culture, GAVE them their law, GAVE them their Messiah, however much their treatment of Him produced trauma for generations, and for it  not to trust in itself, its allies or its ingenuities!

At what stage is the stage set ? In what phase of the drama is the dynamic occurring ? What lights and what action are on ? Is it not to be still and to "know that I am God" (Psalm 46), returning to the rest which is His, as He gave at the first (Isaiah 63:14)! It is not hatred of the Arab, but of his malaise which afflicts both him and the world, of the concoctions of false prophecy, and its ludicrously unfulfilled protestations, its vulnerability in validity, its failure for verification in the very presence of glory, that of the Lord: it is this which is to the point!

Far worse than radioactive disease, with its long litany of horror, is spiritual disease, which divorces itself from the God of pity and all comfort, as if to ensure that nothing but the winds of bleak segregation from the Spirit of God, will blow. To such, the most violent, the most foolish, the most stripped of spiritual banes, the worst of nations can present a challenge. It is part of the irony, yes, but of the expostulation of God, to stir the people to think, to learn, to repent (as in Deuteronomy 32:21).

Is it to be that Israel will be afflicted by a "foolish nation", then, by the land of Baals and belligerence, by the proponents of false and furious gods, from Hitler on, from before it, from Rome's Inquisition, to the present: since it will not itself, follow the Lord ?

Is this not precisely what Moses forecast, and is it not stated clearly that it is the LORD ALONE who will deliver them from such a passionate pogrom as this! (Deuteronomy 32:17-21, 28-43*4)! The stage is set precisely as in Zechariah 12, and it is in Zechariah 14 that one sees the Lord act, to intervene and that personally, to return to the city which crucified Him. It is best to return to the Lord before the Lord returns for His people, when the tribes of the earth shall mourn (Revelation 1:7). It is best to come one by one now, as in Zechariah 12:10ff., and not to wait for the en bloc, the bulk judgments of God. These come for one, for all who do not repent of sin, turn from the slighting of the Messiah, Jew or Gentile, and find in Him and in Him wholly, the salvation from sin by grace through faith in His unspeakable gift, through His unsearchable riches.

It is time to seek the Lord, for Israel, for the Arab, for the inhabitants of this world, for there is no rest outside Him; and warring on God is worse than declaring war on your own body; for if it fails, the Lord has ample power to rebuild it, but if your cut that link, the recourse is gone, and the reality is not less sharp because the wit is wandering, the heart is stolen and the life is slanted on stolen beams, which do not illuminate, but merely advertise themselves.

END-NOTES

*1

See The Impregnable Tower Ch . 1.

*2 Of interest today, in the Manchester Guardian report, is the account of the Palestinian High Court decision that evidence lacks against the internationally held leader of the left-wing Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), kept in Jericho, so that it deems this, that he should at once go free.

Israel feels that the liberation of the leader of the organisation which CLAIMED responsibility for the assassination of Israeli tourism minister Rehavam Zevi in October, would constitute a terrible farce in the war on terrorism, it seems, and indicated that "if  [Mr Saadat] is not brought to justice, we will bring justice to him." This is the reported word of a spokesman for Mr Sharon.

Will the wheels of the furniture truck soon be heard again, then, as Israel is given the benefit of advice from a nation, perhaps, none of whose Ministers were assassinated, and which went near enough to taking apart another nation, Afghanistan, where authors of an assault on Trade Towers et al. were believed to be sourced ? Will it be shown to Israel that the carefully brokered AGREEMENT to house this PFLP leader, whose organisation made the claim for the murder, is not really important ?

Will truth cease ? Will justice go on holiday ? Will comparability of small and large, be lost entirely, so that justice is proportional to population, weaponry or other fixtures ?

Is wisdom to be found in such deals!

It is not that it has yet been shown that such things will be; it is just that IN THE PAST precisely such things would appear so often to have arisen, like killer bee plagues, as to make nausea seem almost delightful by comparison!

Here is the SELECTIVE WAR ON TERRORISM. If it threatens the USA or Europe, it is terror indeed. If it threatens Israel, well, what would you, they behave strangely in that part of the world, where the oil is, and we need an unguent, perhaps a little more land from the slight residue left to Israel from the Palestine promised ? Such things may again be considered, as if  to increase the farcical misrepresentation of justice, to the point of pantomime.

*4

Consider for example the forecasts of Moses in Deuteronomy
32:3-9, and 28-43. Passages of extreme relevance to our present topic are made red.

"For I proclaim the name of the Lord:
Ascribe greatness to our God.
He is the Rock, His work is perfect;
For all His ways are justice,
A God of truth and without injustice;
Righteous and upright is He.

“They have corrupted themselves;
They are not His children,
Because of their blemish:
A perverse and crooked generation.
Do you thus deal with the Lord,
O foolish and unwise people?
Is He not your Father, who bought you? Has He not made you and established you?

“Remember the days of old,
Consider the years of many generations.
Ask your father, and he will show you;
Your elders, and they will tell you:
When the Most High divided their inheritance to the nations,
When He separated the sons of Adam,
He set the boundaries of the peoples
According to the number of the children of Israel.
For the Lord’s portion is His people;
Jacob is the place of His inheritance."

Again, later in this Chapter from Deuteronomy, we read:

“For they are a nation void of counsel,
Nor is there any understanding in them.
Oh, that they were wise, that they understood this,
That they would consider their latter end!
How could one chase a thousand,
And two put ten thousand to flight,
Unless their Rock had sold them,
And the Lord had surrendered them?

"For their rock is not like our Rock,
Even our enemies themselves being judges.
For their vine is of the vine of Sodom
And of the fields of Gomorrah;
Their grapes are grapes of gall,
Their clusters are bitter.
Their wine is the poison of serpents,
And the cruel venom of cobras.

" ‘Is this not laid up in store with Me,
Sealed up among My treasures?

" 'Vengeance is Mine, and recompense;
Their foot shall slip in due time;
For the day of their calamity is at hand,
And the things to come hasten upon them.’

“For the Lord will judge His people
And have compassion on His servants,
When He sees that their power is gone,
And there is no one remaining, bond or free.
He will say: ‘Where are their gods,
The rock in which they sought refuge?
Who ate the fat of their sacrifices,
And drank the wine of their drink offering?
Let them rise and help you,
And be your refuge.

" ‘Now see that I, even I, am He,
And there is no God besides Me;
I kill and I make alive;
I wound and I heal;
Nor is there any who can deliver from My hand.

" 'For I raise My hand to heaven,
And say, “As I live forever,
If I whet My glittering sword,
And My hand takes hold on judgment,
I will render vengeance to My enemies,
And repay those who hate Me.

" ' "I will make My arrows drunk with blood,
And My sword shall devour flesh,
With the blood of the slain and the captives,
From the heads of the leaders of the enemy.” ’

“Rejoice, O Gentiles, with His people;
For He will avenge the blood of His servants,
And render vengeance to His adversaries;
He will provide atonement for His land and His people.”
