PREFACE
This work is largely a compilation from WAITING FOR WONDER, with some additions or conformities to this present task, and various other features. It takes total departure from that from Ch. 10 onward. It is convenient to have the Israel elements, with various relationships to Christianity, idolatry and redemption to come, under its own name, as to have such national exercises in the past, sited in one place.
However, in this locale, introductions of relevant emphasis precede in some of the first nine Chapters (q.v.), so giving it the appropriate perspective, flavour and savour. It enables us equally to set the four ISRAEL volumes in a single totality, making reference easier and avoiding scurrying about. The first nine Chapters are from Waiting for Wonder, which in diverse ways and in diverse degrees, focussed this topic.
As to the second part of the title, there is a question. WHAT are you waiting for ? It is addressed to Israel, which has great things to come, dependent on return to the slain Messiah, as divinely provided, pre-announced and proclaimed to come, both in the Old and New Testament, on a very large scale in the nation.
It is addressed to a lesser extent to the nations: WHAT are you waiting for, but trouble as you violate the divinely accorded integrity of the nation, cleverly in diplomacy, vilely with violence ? It is nothing good as you read Micah 7, Ezekiel 36ff., Deuteronomy 32. Thus it is a call to those who will be wise to cease meddling.
This is not all. It is also a call for clarity in the heart of Christians: THIS, as advertised these millenia in the scriptures, it is this which we are waiting for. It is not only what is to befall Israel and its tormentors, the former in sudden salvation of many, the latter in a rebuttal the more impoverishing in that it is divine; it is the return of Jesus Christ to summon and resolve, rule and demonstrate, so that the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of God as the waters cover the sea. That ? it is but a passing. The plotting leads to results irrevocable as in Psalm 2. After the rule, as in Isaiah 51:6, and all to be discovered in it, for which glory be to God, there is the ruin. This world, object for dynasties innumerable, in which to gloat, will lose not only its glory as a wonder creation; but history will die in it. It is to go.
That, it is like an old snake skin. There is a new one to come. God however, HE does not change, nor does His word (Matthew 24:35, 5:17-20, Isaiah 59:20-21, Malachi 3:6, Psalm 102, James 1:17, Habakkuk 3:6). Worlds may - and will - go, but He is the same, His ways are everlasting, and to His people, from Jew or Gentile, His redeemed, this He says: I will never leave you nor forsake you! (Hebrews 13:6). Being what He is, there becomes the ultimate blessing. To be ALWAYS with Him, beholding His face indeed (Revelation 21), what surpasses that, except to be HIS, in spiritual genetics! (I John 3:1-4). Praise be to His name.

Recently, there occurred the publication of ISRAEL III, Faith, Fishbones, Fiascos and the Faithfulness of the Lord, A Contemporary Inspection and Collection in the Inextinguishable Light of the Bible.
This present Chapter, like the following Chapters is now to be part of ISRAEL IV. Special and concentrated attention is given to actual, numerous verses in the Bible concerning the plus and the minus, the hope and the hindrance, Jew and Gentile, and the divine approach to it all, and especially to the Gentile attitude to Israel. With this there is realism: none is exalted, but all are set as given in the Word of the Lord, the Bible.

SECTION I
These two Chapters (2 and 3) from Possess Your Possession IV may be viewed as one whole: they dwell on Daniel's Four Empires, as also on Assyria which preceded them in its heyday, yesterday and today, on Three Kings, Sennacherib, Nebuchadnezzar and Christ, contrast what the ultimates involve, and then follow up with the intervening 3rd and 4th Kingdoms of Daniel, with a specialised contrast between such Kings and Christ, and in particular, Antiochus Epiphanes in his sacrifice-stopping action, and Christ in HIS own stoppage of the same thing, in an infinitely different way, and for an infinitely different reason, as in Daniel 9:27!
This leads us to consider the exegesis of Daniel 9:24-27, not for the first time, and in this setting it gives wind to our wings, revealing the fascinating realities of this profound and delicious prophecy, accomplishing so much in so little, as the Lord often does in the biological world likewise, here giving a ground-plan for the very kernel of history, and the overthrow of evil.
Further, the Gentile era is considered relative to Israel's day in the cockpit of celestial missions, and emphasis is given to Daniel's coverage, and the impact of specialised prophesies in the Bible, to our present, our own contemporary approach to ... the deadline!
SECTION II
This is Ch. 4 of Possess Your Possession IV, which with Ch. 3, *1 deals with the date of the Messiah, with death forecast in the area, A.D. 30, to put in modern dating format. Ch. 5 deals with the world's acute and growing problems in view of the purport of that death, and its need for reconciliation, not with itself merely, but infinitely more, with Him. The significance of the prophetic coverage is explored, and put in its broader setting, for many nations.

The latter presents a coverage of Isaiah 60-66, with illustration and information to enable a sound overall view, and to participate in the wonder of these scriptures, nestling in their Isaianic abode, consummating, culminating, and yet for all that, glowing with the vigour of truth in their joint abode with all the other preludes and exposures that in abundance, to change the image, are like fields of wild-flowers, except that for all their exuberance, these flowers are not wild!

The differentiation between a people called, disciplined, defiled, dispersed, recalled first nationally and then in course of time, to conversion to Christ as a vast movement to come, and the Christian Church is made so clear that it should almost hurt the eyes to see it more openly... shut eyes the normal escape, but only to a sad ignorance of current history.

Here we review the precision of judgment, the thunder of mercy and the path of spiritual pilgrims, in passing dwelling on the dramatic splendour of the prophecies about Israel in such sites as Zechariah 12, 14, Isaiah 66, Ezekiel 36-39, Luke 21:24, the folly of ignoring the incontestable results of giving full contextual value to each context, and their perfect intertwining as a joint testimony. At the same time, the testimony of some Churches is deplored in this respect, that they bypass these sensationally helpful facts, the fulfilments in perfection, the provision of a light in a dark place, not only without reason, but contrary to it, and in rupture of what is written. It is good to cling to the word of God, to yearn for it as in Psalm 119. Mistakes happen; but let us not congeal with them, as the blood of prophecy comes from the smiting of the text, however simply confused those concerned may be.
The little matter of Israel, so small, so slithery, so shivery in the blasts of the dragons about her, needs exact attention from the word of God, as the examinations of history show the entire and glorious veracity of the word of God, who is faithful and reliable to the uttermost point in precision and to those who seek Him, also in pity. With the conclusion of the Jew-Gentile saga drawing near, and huge energies bent on Jerusalem, there is need for warning for the unwise, joy for those exulting in the word of God and for realism about facts.

The topsy-turvy misrepresentation, as if in a dream, of the position of Israel in the modern, competing world of vast forces, enormous defeats, propaganda weapons and international clout for that combination of Moslem and oil interests, and that hatred of things biblical, even when the nation concerned is itself not yet reconciled to Christ, is a testimony to anti-truth.
It does not matter how many times Israel repels vast, multinational forces, the world looking on, or what results from this, how much is removed from the land grant of the League of Nations, what offers are made, the blight from rich, powerful or extensive countries continues to come to Israel, in the most extraordinary passions. Nations even aggregate, congregate for the kill, the UN their trumpet. Were it not that it is all precisely according to biblical prediction, it would seem a catastrophic genocide in the making.
