Note that wherever End-notes are used at the conclusion of a Section, Part or Extension, rather than at the end of the entire Chapter, that will be indicated at the START and END of that portion, in the TEXT. At the commencement, with the heading, there will be the sign EN#, and similarly at the end, to distinguish these End-notes from others. They are, as usual, numbered in the text, in addition to occasional unnumbered footnotes appearing on the same page.
TRANSLATIONS:

These may be taken from the Authorised Version, or the New King James version; but they may rely directly on the Greek or the Hebrew, or be taken from some version noted on the site concerned. The use of 'thou' and 'thee', for that which is not God in particular, is frequently avoided.
EXTENSIONS:

These, as the name implies, constitute a more detailed, specialised or sustained excursion into a specific topic suggested by the text, and contributing to its understanding. Especially where a reasonable number of these occur at the end of any Section, Part or Chapter, some endeavour may be made to give a measure of sequence, to aid any who may wish to read them as a series. For this reason, Extensions do not always appear in the order in which End-notes may mention them, significance sometimes taking precedence over the numerical order in this respect. Their own numbers are, however, noted in the End-notes, for ease of reference.

Now let us revert to the prophecies pointing to Christ Himself. He not only displayed divine attributes of personally authoritative cognition in making prophecies. To be sure, these were vested, in the infinitely close relation with His Father who, as we have seen, chooses that Christ be honoured as He Himself is honoured, as fitting for His eternal counterpart... Christ also had other constraints for the proper establishment of His credentials. He fulfilled the many prophecies which related to His coming to act as Saviour. These, like the merging trees on a distant mountain-landscape, are numerous and inter-related, constructed in beauty and fulfilling a certain majesty. They are however, also like the mountain stream to which one journeys, clear and sparkling in the waters that come running by.

Part of our verificatory procedure, therefore, will be to consider some of these prophetic data, focussing on Christ as incarnate. In all things that may be verified, what is more significant than this ? the message of one's God.

Another element therefore is the ascertainment of the IDENTITY given in those (here necessarily) Old Testament prophecies, for Christ, the Messiah. This must be matched closely with the exhibition of that identity on earth. To the extent the identity is unique, it will be the more impressive verification that He fulfilled it; to the extent it requires Godhead itself, it will be an unparalleled and self-attesting work with all the force that one could wish, even for such a purpose as this.

What however of His racial envelope, His background in the Jews ? What of their prophetic history, and the actual one ? How do these match ? More detailed work on scripture will be needed to establish this for the thoughtful mind. What of their current actions, the trend of their actions, the drift of their historic actions, the relation of all these actions to Christ, and to themselves: according to scripture on the one hand, and on the other, according to events ? If Christ was a Jew, we would expect some highly special and significant inter-relations with the events of His life on earth, and THEIRS.

But what of their great city, so old, so venerable, the scene of such history and of so many promises, the London of the Jews: what of Jerusalem ? What is predicted of it and what has happened; and what indeed is happening ? How does this validate, verify and fulfil scripture - the scenes of their capital ?

Further investigation in more detail also seems called for ... in the area of the Gentiles, our world systems and situations, and how these, with such prophetic indications of divine judgments as appear in Scripture, are developing. 

How accurate in form and force is the Bible's predictions in these areas ? Does it set up a general aura, air, atmosphere ? Does it provide detail of sobering realism as well ? Does it in fact exhibit the sort of precise forecasting of events thousands of years after it was written? Does it give some coverage of the trend way beyond the present indeed, which would attest the sort of sovereign rigour, far past imagination: which is God's alone ? In the spiritual, the moral, the ecclesiastical, the philosophic, the international areas today, are there indications which in detail give verificatory expression to the scriptures, so that they, on the one hand, are seen like a mirror the Bible, on the other, or like the road the traveller traverses after seeing the way on the map ? Is there moreover abundant fulfilment, as when a skilled surgeon performs a long rehearsed operation, and his little hospital 'world' looks admiringly on ?

Yes, yes yes.

But it is necessary to take the time to verify, if you have not done so before, for your mind to gain its due requital.
