INTRODUCTION TO GLOSSARY

ITS CONTENTS AND PURPOSE

There are included words and phrases with some extensions on aspects of interest, so that where readers

a) find difficulties with any individual words

b) need help with phrases

c) want elucidation on some issues

d) might like a short summation on some point to enable comparison and a closer capture of the force of a point or nature of an area their needs will be met. Sometimes in chemistry it is useful to have a short statement with limited discussion, on certain basic terms or issues, for a more assured study; and this may apply here.

It is hoped that this may not only shorten time for grasping some points and sharpen recall on some words for some readers, but positively allow some younger readers or those less verbally oriented to gain access to areas of the book. Since this work is written to give help, this provision for broadening of the reader base and ease of progress has seemed worthwhile.

Two Sections

In Volumes I and II, there appears the glossary proper. This given in the order of reading the book, by page number of the actual text of this work. It allows the reader to flick to the glossary, turning its pages from time to time, to keep pace with the book:if this is desired.

However some readers may wish at any time or for some other reason to check various terms, for meaning or comment, and therefore there follows a glossary in alphabetical order, in the case of Volume 3 only. Next to each word - following it in brackets, there is set the page of the glossary, already given, on which that term appears. This alphabetical access to the glossary is found below, pp. 1209 ff..

VOLUME ONE

SELECTED WORDS AND PHRASES

Preface

v: Infallible - unable to err.

Introduction

xxiii: Pseudo - as it were; apparent or lacking genuineness, artificial or pretended.

xxiv: Verification - process of successfully applying a rule or theory. So - verificatory- having this trend or result; showing that the principle holds in the case in question.

xxvi: Conditioning - a process by which a human mind may be moved, desensitised, or distorted in thought by its environment in society, nature, learning and so on, if it is not divinely maintained in the truth.

Evasion - a deliberate avoiding of something, sometimes of the truth.

xxiii: Ostensibly - as far as what is being shown is concerned (as opposed to what may be the actual fact). There may be a flavour of mere appearance, or doubt.

xxvii: Panache - plume, display, dramatic effect with some showiness.

Effrontery - a daring and bold courage without tact or proper self-control.

Syndrome - an associated series of symptoms commonly found in a given disease: hence, such features in any pathological condition, physical or otherwise.

xxviii: Presupposition - a thought, assumption or proposal which occurs logically before the action. It is something previous to what follows, possibly taken for granted, possibly consciously made as a model to see what happens.

Pre-condition - something required before anything else (in view) is permitted or operative.

Christology - understanding of Jesus Christ relative to God the Father, the Holy Spirit and His human nature.

Sovereignty - of a king, the power by which he rules in terms of authority; of God, the authority belonging to the all-powerful creator; divine quality control.

xxix: Theological Formulation - a way of putting words together in order to develop or show some truth about God, normally based on revelation and decisively on the Bible. It may also relate to 'natural theology': the world of creation as some indication of the Maker.

Expository Analysis - an investigation or appraisal of a subject, topic or object, so that its features and their relationships are in view, and the situation is clearly presented for thought.

Inhibitor - that which slows down, restrains or prevents an action or thought.

The text body:

2: Apologetics - the study and practice of the systematic defence of the faith, using knowledge, reason and evidence. "Apologetic", in a context, means: concerned with apologetics. To invalidate other options is an extension.

Superficial - shallow, without much understanding; on the surface.

3: Logical Decrepitude - lack of freedom and force in reasoning, a bent, slow or incapable approach to reasoning.

9: Correlated Concepts - ways of considering things which relate, as in a system, with mutuality and order.

Correlate - join in thought, and understanding. So Correlative - having such a close inter-relation.

17: Conceptual - concerned with conception, thought, ideas, the formulation of matters in the mind.

19: Electronic - concerned with the movement of electrons in vacuums, gases, with the use of vacuum tubes, transistors, photoelectric cells etc., and with various applications such as occur in computers.

Sophisticated - either i) knowledgeable, aware of events and their significance, often in a worldly way, or ii) lacking in freshness of spirit. The idea is that you can be increased by the knowledge, or damaged by not being able or willing to keep it in perspective, being 'conditioned'.

21: Designate - pointed out (adj.); point out, show, indicate (verb).

22: Intrinsic - internal, within, concerned with the essential meaning of something, as distinct from extrinsic - not belonging to the real nature of a thing.

23: Analogy - a comparison, one often made in order to illustrate or develop - a point. It is quite legitimate in logic so long as the likenesses are not extended, as if the things were identical - or as if, some things being similar, others may be assumed to be so. (Argument by analogy is the term for this error of logic.)

24: Qualitative - concerned with qualities, things which may be described, as distinct from 'quantitative', concerned with things which may be measured - such as mass.

Purposive - concerned with purpose, showing effort or movement towards the fulfilment of some purpose.

Transcends - moves quite beyond, goes on and apart from the former point or topic.

Analytical - concerned with analysis, with the splitting up of matters so that their inward workings, meaning, composition or structure may be considered.

25: Cognitive - concerned with knowledge and thought, as distinct from mere perception or mere awareness.

26: Officious - unduly official, intrusive, 'pushy' in a busy-body fashion.

Preclude - exclude, prevent the occurrence of something.

27: Infinite Regressivist - someone who holds to infinite regression, and in this field, to a series of links going back, so that the matters in view are found to be or supposed to be part of a giant, indeed unending chain. It does not, in theology, solve the point that the chain, with its supposed or alleged links of gods, has itself to arrive.

30: Articulation - setting into words, getting the matter out in language, expressing thoughts or desires, ideas or revelation, rendering them into proper language.

32: Militancy - a war-like or fighting quality or spirit.

34: Intimations - matters revealed, exposed, brought to someone's attention (related to, 'intimate', close, friendly).

Beneficiary - someone who benefits, especially from a will.

Hypothesised - put forward as a working assumption, exposed to test in order to find whether or not it stands, whether the thing is true.

Subordinate - of lesser authority ...'sub' - under; of a lower order of authority.

Rational - concerned with the due use of reason, logical, not wild or distorted by reckless and unordered responses.

Construe - to work out, to find a meaning in, to appreciate the significance of something, to translate, to understand by careful thought and alert assessment. However, it is possible to misconstrue, mistaking the significance of things.

Duality - a state of two-ness; the quality of existing or working in pairs or a pair.

38: Irregularity - a state or condition of being not consistent, moving this way and that, without actual or apparent plan or order.

39: Theologian - one learned or active in theology, which is the systematic study of the things of God, and the careful organisation of knowledge concerning Him and His word.

40: Definitive - providing or concerned with the final, assured nature of a thing; not merely a process or an element of something, but complete and properly representative of it.

47: Elicit - bring out, cause to come forth, gain as a response.

Aspire - hope, look up, look forward with a sense of promise.

49: Apotheosis - (plural -es): an investment or formation of something as a 'god'; a change to the status of a 'god' - often used figuratively or in scorn.

Kaleidoscope - an instrument showing many fragments which can combine in interesting or even fascinating ways; anything which brings this to mind.

Non-vocal Mysticism - mysticism without speech: a form of religious or semi-religious experience, sometimes associated with unclear, confused concepts following some inward event, which may be thought of as providing some illumination or perspective.

50: Specifications - the things laid down, to be noted and executed so that a plan or project might meet the standards, achieve the results desired.

51: Indices - plural of index: things which indicate what is happening, or measure progress, or point this out.

55: Vindicate - show to be right, indicate by results that someone or something was in fact what it claimed to be, was innocent for example, or correct. It is like a verification where there has been some pressure on someone making a claim, or the appearance of confusion.

56: Annunciation - an announcement of great or solemn significance; the term may also be used ironically, to mock at pompous self-importance in declaring something.

57: Stringent - strict, allowing little liberty, strongly required.

Contrition - a state of sorrow not merely for oneself, but basically for one's sins as such, their folly, the evils they have done, especially the offence to God.

Assigned Cause - the reason for which something happens, as stated and made clear.

58: Criterion - that by which one judges, determines or assesses something. Plural: criteria.

Adumbrate - to foreshadow, to give some indication of something before it happens, or to outline in a preliminary way.

59: Benefaction - something conferred, given as a matter of kindness, charity. A procedural benefaction means something resulting from a procedure, or investigation which gives an unexpected or additional advantage.

Explicit - clear, not left to the imagination: opposite of implicit. The latter suggests that a matter is merely contained or reflected in what we receive: perhaps logically contained, but not actually stated.

68: Scholarly Romanticist - one who, while using knowledge and academic work, does not face so much the facts, as desired fictions.

Rebuttal - an answer which is deemed to show the error of some charge, contention or position, some attack.

69: Millenium - a thousand year period (literal or metaphorical).

Impregnable - unable to be taken by fighting.

Participant - one who takes part in something.

Oral Tradition - a passing of a story or thought or cultural material from generation to generation, by telling rather than writing. It may happen, or be merely an imaginative hypothesis.

72: Anti-philosophy - a mode of intellectual dypepsia, and metaphysical cynicism which yet employs its own metaphysics surreptitiously, as if to dispense with what it resists. This it does, in defiance - while yet using metaphysics in contradiction of its own premises. Thus it uses what it abandons, to reject what it dislikes. When reason however is consistently used, it necessarily leads, as we show in this work, to something better than philospophy. It impels to the word of God.

73: Potential - something which may come as a result of the present qualities of something or someone; what is within the apparent force and nature of something for its future. As an adjective, it describes something with this feature: he has potential; or he has potential powers.

74: Crucial - of supreme importance; or critical, decisive.

Anomaly - something out of its proper or expected place. (Literally: not name.)

75: Attribution - assumption concerning an action, work, product or writing that it was produced by a stated being, force or event - that it duly followed from it.

91: Requital - payment made in return for something, completing a matter in this way, perhaps with a flavour of judgment; getting back what you deserve in a negative sense, or for an injurious action.

103: Vestigial Organs - organs thought of as being left over from some past use which no longer applies. A vestige is a small thing left over, a minor residue or remnant.

104: Incorporate - set with something else as one body, organisation or being.

105: Vertical Transformations - here, supposed movements up the scale of complexity and development in life, as distinct from imagined movements horizontally, at or about the same level of advancement as what went before.

106: Gene - a small section or part of a chromosome, which could be compared to a bead on a string, and which may relate to a special feature of the body to be constructed; a minor code carrier in the larger area of a chromosome, in which, with other chromosomes in the human body, is much of the code for construction of succeeding generations. Genes are in chromosomes which are in cell nuclei, near the centre, in location and operational power.

Genetic - relating to a gene.

Transmutative - relating to large-scale change so that something of a widely different character is produced.

Gradualistic - relating to gradualism, a doctrine or theory that things have come by small, slow, gradual steps, time doing the creating by 'taking its time'. No time however is adequate for a system which lacks what it takes, to produce. Time does not enable a dunce to do higher mathematics, but does let adequate talent show itself.

108: Determinate - not vague, able to be shown in a definite and sure manner.

Deficiency - that which lacks, which might have been present for full operation.

Palaeobiological - concerned with the study of fossil plants or life from far distant times. Palaeontology - similar, but with stress on forms, nature of things.

109: Manifest - clear, obvious, not hidden.

Transitional Series - a number of fossils which would relate in a traceable step-by-step manner, to show how one sort of thing by stages became another. In the manner relevant to evolution, these lack. It is not an observational theory in the field of how things came to be, lacking fossil and visible sequences at the level necessary to make the point. As a philosophy, it can imagine what it likes.

Viciously - in an evil or hurtful manner, not characterised by a good spirit.

Indoctrinate - cause to be 'educated' without due use of reason, observation or honest, honourable assessment; to force, or act as if to force into a mere mental mould.

110: Factuality - the quality of being in accord with the facts, reality, truth... as distinct from imagination and hope, or error.

111: Denunciation - an attack or accusation which wholly condemns a person in his life, office or action; or which so attacks an action, movement etc..

Ideational Conspectus - a general view of, or organisation of ideas, seen in their inter-relations.

Diverse - different, oddly assorted; divergent - moving in different directions.

112: Replicative - concerned with the making of copies.

Amiable Meander - a pleasant, or likable but undisciplined or unpurposeful movement about a place or situation.

Cytology - the study of the individual cells, or their relationships; inter-cytologlcal - concerned with the relations of the cells to each other.

Dichotomy - a branching into parts, division into two, development by this means.

Infinitesimal - of exceedingly small dimensions.

113: Valedictory - concerned with saying goodbye.

115: Non-amorphous - definite in kind, specific, allowing detailed specification.

Amorphous - of no definite type, of no specialised structure, without definite form.

Integrative - putting things together into one, providing cohesion so that many things may function as one in type or design.

'Layers of Comprehensible Integration of Meaning and Function' - this refers to organs, structures, levels in the body, whether at skin or coating or inward areas, which are structured, ordered and organised at that level as one piece; and which so function both within and with other areas in cohesion, in a way which we can investigate, realise, and for which we can see something of the design plan.

Vertical Integration - a phrase used in economics and management to cover the using of a series of manufacturing exercises, or their equivalent, each of which provides for the next, as the movement proceeds to the final result. Here, each segment, section, area, has a task and relation to other areas and actions in the body, all moving into a team-situation, where higher and higher levels of action and movement come until the man himself is fully equipped, to implement his will, to carry out as one whole what he wants. Where each cell may have a billion code units, and there are supposedly 75 trillion cells per mature human body, and where all has to be inter-connected, inter-related, made to function both in parts, segments, organs, systems where they are, and as parts of greater wholes; and these must relate to diverse bodily systems, all of which must be ready for use as one whole and to relate thus, or severally, to the expected and to the unexpected: we begin to follow the highest design complexity ever seen on this earth.

Now this refers merely to the material side; the rest goes beyond all of this, as shown, and must be capable of integration still further.

116: Protein Synthetic Apparatus - the bodily equipment needed in order to make out of simpler ingredients, by chemical means, the necessary substance for life, the protein with which we find our bodies so largely made.

Synthesis - the building up of complex materials or ideas, from simpler ones, needing in manufacture, profound knowledge or experience.

Incontrovertibly- so that no one could show the matter to be wrong.

A Postiori - as found by subsequent investigation - as distinct from: A Priori - which means the opposite: held in advance of inspection, or as a means to proceeding at the outset. Often, but not always, a priori approaches are guesswork, cultural or academic preference or examples of intellectual arthritis.

Cybernetics - the study of the methods of communication and control found resident in life forms, with special emphasis on their splendid similarities in concept and execution: this homology in fact frowning on chance concepts, and verifying a vertical integration, over-arched by a single Thinker and Communicator, espousing His desired and meticulous system. This study is one which is used with special reference to man's endeavours to make his own systems, within his limits of power and concepts, as in computers. The concentration, conceptualisation, vision, industry and ingenuity required to apply such principles is a lively reminder of the magnificence of the mind of the Father of man who made the very instrument (the mind of man). Man does this thinking, in an endeavour to follow what God Himself has already done. The celestial systems may be studied by humans with one of those systems, man's own - through man's spirit.

118: Regeneration - a renewal of spirit such that a person who was without God, hope or position in God's family, but an exiled outcast from His presence through sin, becomes accepted as a child of God, member of His family, and changed within (re-generated) in a way that, with forgiveness, gives an entirely new life both vitally and positionally.

Factuality - the quality of being in accord with the facts, with reality, truth... as distinct from imagination and hope, or error.

Redemption - a buying back from slavery or indebtedness, so that what was without freedom, now has it at cost to the purchaser, or redeemer, who pays what it takes. Applied to sinners, 'redemption' means what it took to satisfy justice, before freedom in the family of God could be granted.

Contuse - injure, bruise (without breaking skin).

Infuse - to pour into; to enter into - not violently but by process; to inspire or impart, or to flow into.

Ransom - spiritually, the redemption price. The redeemer has will and thought; but the ransom specifically is what it costs him. Jesus Christ offered Himself a ransom, to cover the cost of justice in His Person, so that those receiving Him, and this from Him, are freely restored.

119: Molecular Biology - that aspect of the study of living tissue and forms, which deals with it at a most minute level, using microscope and appropriate theories. Powerful magnification makes this possible - e.g. the electron microscope. New levels of littleness enable one, as it were, to peer inside the factory doors and examine the machinery, the equipment, even the coded-programs within individual cells. Complexity and integration of design appear not less, but more continually, as things are regarded, so that cells become comparable to cities with many gates, streets, areas, and concerted industries mutually supplying needs.

Polymer - a complex chemical substance formed by association of a number of like parts, so gaining different properties from those of the original, and with numerous atoms, having a high molecular weight (a molecule being the smallest portion of the material which has its particular qualities).

120: Collation - a putting or placing together so as to form a group or assemblage.

Linguistically - in such a way as to show the characteristics of language, esp. with its phases carefully analysed, its forms, functions and procedures.

Virtuoso - a person with extraordinary natural gifts in some field, a brilliant performer.

Pragmatic - concerned with results more than with principles or purity.

Paradigm - a model, pattern or example, and in grammar, a set of forms of some word which show how it changes according to the purpose and place of its use.

Morphology - the study of form, or the orderly understanding of what it is or why it is, in terms of the nature of the object in view: as distinct from function. It is applied to creatures, objects and to words.

127: Gentilities -acts of a refined or gracious character, showing a gentleness of mind or spirit; may be used ironically of the brutal to focus their folly.

Distillate - a liquid which forms after the first substance is heated or turned to gas, and then condensed as by cooling, back to a liquid now purified. In ideas, it refers to something so processed - by analogy; so that a series of concepts, thoughts, values may be processed and treated into some final form.

Zealot - someone filled with zeal, pasion for some type of thought, philosophy, politics or religion, favouring it with dedication and strong desire. While zeal is often glorious, like other qualities subject to sinfulness, it can become an abyss of destruction, instead of a stimulus to glory.

130: Catalyst - in chemistry, what promotes or forwards some action without being itself necessarily changed; thus, an activator, someone who inspires drive.

Enzyme - a biological catalyst, a forward director of action in life materials, which may be as necessary as electricity to a spark plug (to use an analogy).

Ideationally - relative to the area of ideas and their formation and use.

136: Irrationalism - a not rational form, thought, idea or mental process; one not logical, sound, able to be argued, defended or sustained validly.

139: Propositional Premises of a Philosophical Putsch - the putsch is a politically sudden, schemed take-over of government. Here the meaning is: ideas without evidential basis, or warrant, are put into statements or propositions, and these are used as a start to an argument (premises), what you begin with. With weird insistence, all this is here moved on until a new way of regarding things emerges like an unlawful government.

147: Lineage - a line of descent: here, a proposed or imaginary series of 'stages' as something that is seen, or might have been, comes in ever new forms until, presto, here we are, we have what we see. It is rather like discussing stages of production in a factory, which you neither see, nor visit, and one where processes neither seen nor thought out, are nevertheless felt ... somehow, to occur.

156: Saltation - a jump or leap, and here the idea that there is a sudden leap from one sort of design, to quite another, far more advanced. Frustrated with the remorselessly uncooperative evidence, many evolutionists now look for a more obviously magical solution: something to avoid the now less fashionable nonsense of slowly developing, inoperative organs, over millions of years! Such often talk of 'punctuated equilibrium' -a 'leap' to a quite new realm, new design, new creature, suddenly, then a pause, as if the powers of what was not there (to do it) needed... rest!

158: Stricture - a harsh saying, criticism.

Methodological - concerned with the way method should be used, with study of methods, of true and correct application therefore.

Sic Semper Tyrannus - Latin. Thus always the tyrant. It means: this is the way the vile power of the tyrant, the dictator, the ruler by force always ends. That is, it ends in things worthy to be forgotten, or that are forgotten, in exposure or doom, for mere force does not create love or truth.

Doctrinaire - held with force that is without adequate ground: of things of the mind or spirit.

Hypothetical - relating to an idea, possibility, surmise or thought about what might be the reason for something. In scientific method, it must be subjected to systematic and therefore to available rigorous tests, which do not prove it, butmay disqualify it.

169: Quasi-exponential - resembling an exponential decay curve: this curve is one which rapidly falls away at first, and then smoothes out until it fades at an extremely slow rate; it often occurs in natural phenomena. It would mean in the case of light that a vastly greater velocity was there in the first case, and that it rapidly fell, until it became almost constant at a far less level.

This for light would mean that radioactive decay, a measure of time (in hope) ... would have been vastly faster at first. Thus ideas of constant light velocity would give dates derived from this, absurdly too high. This would explain results of other dating methods, which yield vastly lower dates.

171: Leftward Slanted Chemical Equilibrium Situations - some chemical reactions occur in such a way that while some action proceeds from the ingredients you give towards making new ingredients (products), the new products also tend to work - backwards, undoing what was done.

The 'equilibrium' is a kind of balance at which net action proceeds.'Leftward slanting' means that the action tends to resist work done towards new products; these tend to disappear; and on the whole, you tend to lose the new products you might have hoped to make. When this sort of chemical reaction occurs, it is uphill, resistant, the results are unstable and you are in no position to 'count' on them. A series of such reactions would increasingly defeat any forward movement. Even biological 'water' does not flow uphill. This is not its program, its nature or the way it behaves in Nature.

When, as is the case with the life-seeking experiments, products are contrary to forward movement, or in fact 'poison' it, then you have an additional burden. In experiments, these negative working products are often artificially removed, so that any results are merely showing what an intelligence could do. Even so, there has not been enough intelligence found for man do so this; by man, life is not produced, or anything remotely like it... he pro-creates life, does not create it. On the theory of organic evolution, there was however no intelligence at work.

When you return to vast intelligence, that of God, then of course you have creation, in which all the work of our organic chemists is left for dead, just as the work of a schoolboy musician looks clumsy before that of a great musician. Moreover, God being infinite, there simply is no comparison, merely an opportunity for man to think God's thoughts after Him, with the equipment given him. That was a pleasant gesture, you could almost say, of God, and shows the magnificence of His power, that what we can do, is done with this equipment of His, kindly given to us. If we used it - all of us - in a good and godly way, we would have delight instead of doom, facing the earth.

The more we can do, moreover, the greater is the testimony to our Maker, in His constructing our powers of imagination and learning, endowed with equipment He created, correlative to His created universe. It is one expression and testimony of our being made in His image ... as He said.

180: Zealot - someone filled with zeal, or passion for some type of thought, philosophy, politics or religion, favouring it with dedication and strong desire.

189: Diabolical - devilish, malign, evil. If organic evolution provides an implicit Satan as God, then the practice of pagan appeasement before malevolent spirits is a lurid counterpart in the past, of the squandering of youth in the current 'temples' of learning. Indulging and misteaching the distorted relics of the human soul, that they should develop in a contrived and non-judgmental environment (judging, of course always that God is mere value, and who knows which!), they torment the young whom they teach, and would ruin as they appease, and destroy as they placate. Hence the next generation is the more polluted as they proceed in regress. This is the moral cyclotron far more apt to destroy this race than the merely atomic one. Only the mercy of God can intervene.

By illusory concepts such as those of organic evolution, with its meaningless 'survival of the fittest' identity statement (A=A), which nevertheless is a marvellous stimulus to personal, racial and human pride, they put a 'face' to the evil principle as Alexandr Dubcek sought to do for Communism. When man leaves the grace of the God of revelation, whom reason attests, then whether in the past or present, intellectual folly and spiritual oppression are twin motives to doom. Whether the sacrifice be of a modern generation of youth - mistaught and distorted - in vainglorious wars, or of sacrificial children placed in the searing arms of an earlier idol, Molech, anguish escalates. (See pp. 127, 180 supra; 481, 501, 976infra, and Psalm 106:35, 11 Kings 23:10.)

All these idols have this in common: they can do nothing, pass no test and are wholly ineffectual for anything except the creation of delusion. Similarly the 'pagan deities' of 'Fortune' and 'Destiny' make capricious caricature of the sovereignty of God, as also of the doom of irrational rebellion, defiling the name of the One and exalting the folly of the other, in blithering admixture and confusion today, as in eras past (cf. Isaiah 65:11, KJV margin; Psalm 1:4-6).

198: Postulate - something which is put down, or presented to the mind, considered as a possibility, and then worked on. You do not merely imagine it, but make it a basis for thought.

204: Multivariate Analysis - this merely means an analysis, or studious consideration of the parts and workings of something, which is done with quite a lot of matters for consideration, in view. It may be computer-assisted, as here. In comparing skeletons or skulls, a large number of matters are selected for measurement. Results are treated in this case, in a computer, and comparisons between bones may then be made with less danger of fears and hopes interfering with the result of the comparison, or complexity stunning the imagination. This is computer technology at work in comparative anatomy, the skeletal structures being closely compared.

208: Christian Theism - that form of theism which is specifically Christian. Theism means an approach to reality in which a god or gods are held to be in action or existence. Polytheism tries to look at a number of them; monotheism at one, atheism at none, agnosticism at an unknown quiddity ... a some-thing. Withsuch a starting point, we have shown in Chapters 3 and 10, even this statement is blocked, there then being no basis for presenting any view as if it were true, including this one. See esp. Ch. 3 and dialogue, pp. 464 ff.. A denial of reason invalidates argument of all kinds; the use of it forces reason to God as shown positively in Ch. 1 and more negatively with this, in 3 and 10. When reason is followed to God, everything fits; when it is not, we show that nothing will. Verifications occur in Ch.'s 2, 5, 8, 9; and confrontation with it, in Ch.'s 6, 3 and 10.

211: Illusory Fantasy - a work of sheer imagination which also misleads the person in view, so that illusion, or mistake between imagination and actuality, takes over. The Bible predicts that confusion and illusion will come when truth is bootd out II Thessalonians 2:10-11.

Teleological Purpose - teleology is the concept or theory or approach which considers that there is a purpose in view, because what is adequate for such a purpose - not illusion - is carrying it out. Thus things seem to be moving to intelligently directed ends in the universe, because they are. Such views touch the Christian view at one point, but tend towards agnosticism very often. Of course, when they do, it is obvious that the 'unknown' is becoming fairly knowable already. 'It' is intelligent (to consider or construe or construct or perform purposes); 'it' is aware, to construct them into being, persistent to carry it all out, practical to work it all out and implement it, brilliant to conceive at this level and filled with engineering, mathematical, chemical, astronomical and other knowledge as a master compared with an apprentice, only much more so. This tends therefore to be a half-way house, the foundations of which gradually wear away, and the result tends to be a possibly painful return to God; and this certainly, if reason prevails.

213: Enigma - a deep puzzle, a strange event or situation which makes one ponder, and yet without any easy answer.

245: Second Law of Thermodynamics - a law about heat interchange, the relation between heat energy and mechanical energy, and the conversion of one to the other. This particular one states that energy will move towards less available forms; its availability will decrease; differences will decrease, as also the grounds for action with them. Entropy will increase: that is, a state of inaction or inertia. It is set in opposition, as an observed law, to the presumed law of 'evolution' where developments and differences and availabilities increase, to provide from fantasy, reality.

It is not merely that organic evolution is not fitted to observable law; it is not only that it differs from what is observable law: it is worse still. It flatly contradicts all known law.

'Scientific' is a word which can be applied to it only in mirth, doctrinaire propaganda, and certainly in error. The fact that it is still so applied by many bodies, shows just how sick, how straitened and how ludicrous is this civilisation. But then, so were many others, now justly dead. The intense realism of the Bible is not only that it keeps to the facts in this matter, but that it both analyses the reason for men leaving them in favour of fantasy in this realm, and shows the judgment due. That judgment, in turn, comes - though currently mercifully limited - and constitutes further verification of the word of God. The Bible does not suffer entropy, since God is back of it!

Even directive systems like particular living things which have life cycles of birth and death, are to be seen, each one, as a system; and over time, there is observed a tendency for the systems (the genes, the chromosomes) to lose or be reduced in their accuracy of transmission from one generation to another, so that sometimes something dies out altogether. Ours is the generation of realisation, typically, of these losses, lamenting endangered species and so on. Meanwhile much of it virtually worships the follies of evolution by which there can be no replacement, ignoring God who made it. It is rather like a car enthusiast who mourns the loss, through age of various models, classically produced: and yet steadfastly refuses either to believe in or even to visit the factory where they were made. Such facts in turn make it even more understandable why our civilisation is showing increasing signs of divine penalties for spiritual and associated follies.

Let us return to the second law of thermodynamics, in its application to total or cyclical systems. An illustration: radioactivity works on genes in the sex cells, meaning more misfits and mangled children are being produced through spoiled genetic programs. The undirected (not creatively directed, not harmoniously directed) force of the radioactive emissions, particles, hits and spoils the intricate and delicate equipment of the genes, or rather tends to do so, as mud might interfere with your car, or tar with valves.

Except when God acts, the whole universe is a 'closed' system, and both theories based on observation, and observation itself, tell us - as does this second law, what happens. The whole drift of unattended structures is to run down, not up. Indeed, apart from the Creator and applied intelligence, what would you expect? When what is vulnerable and intricate weathers the forces of various kinds impinging on it, would you look to find that things are systematically and cohesively improved! The endless seeming red-herring efforts of evolutionists to escape the invariable testimony of observation, of common sense and the due application of scientific method in this area is a twentieth century marvel. However, it is mere triviality, the work of debased religion adrift in dreams. Dreams may be all right: so long as you do not mistake them for reality. Then you may come for good reason to wish your reality were a dream. See following entry, bathos, and pp. 332E-F infra, suppress.

249: Bathos - adjective, bathetic. Bathos is a ridiculous fall from the stupendous, grand or outstanding, to the ordinary or the unimpressive. In literature, this can disgust, offend or amuse.

In science, as here, it can scarcely amuse.

As Professor Thomas Barnes of El Paso University (famed physics researcher) put it in Scientific Studies in Special Creation, Ed. Lammerts, pp. 330 ff.:

''No laws of science are more firmly established than these three laws ...'' Which? He referred to: ''the First Law of Thermodynamics, the Law of Biogenesis and the Second law of Thermodynamics'' - p. 331. The first (''also known as the Law of Conservation of Mass-Energy''), implies that despite different forms (''including mass''), ''total energy remains constant.'' The second means that in a self-contained system, processes have ''an irreversible tendency ... to go toward lower order'' - to degrade - decay and disorder increasing. The third ''states that life comes from life.''

Obviously a static lump of energy-mass (1), a life for life procedure - not non-life for life (3), and a decay liability (2), these are the observable material or visible facts to be expected, if creation happened, and stopped. That is virtually an identity statement. It is this which is observable, and that is a creation verification with which evolution cannot for its part compete.

We are in the maintenance phase. The thing to be maintained is in the finished phase. What is maintained, miracles like the bodily resurrection apart, tends to wear out. This is scientific and also a matter of common observation. That is distinctive, detailed verification of the Bible.

Why then, in the full scope of the evidence and the concepts already seen, is creationism not taken as the only 'theory' which can currently be considered scientifically, rather than the only one that cannot! (See pp. 129, 135-144, 149-151, 158-159, 202-203, 208-209, 213, 252A-C, 284-290, 315C-316A supra; cf. Ch. 2 Suppl., and pp. 332E-G, 421ff. infra.) The rules are broken in this, that it is not so received. There is a metaphysical paralysis of thought which has made the many consider this: that if PROCESS be not ASSUMED to be the author of process... in the sense that the CURRENT is not the father of what is current; or if PRESENTLY OBSERVABLE THINGS or a CURRENT CONTEMPORARY REGIMEN are not the source of living things, then this is unscientific.

THAT however has nothing to do with science.

To LIMIT and REDUCE the scope of hypothesis to some preferred sanctum, some sanctuary hidden free from reality: this is precisely what science is not, what scientific method forbids. It is what begs the question a priori, and sets mere philosophy in state at the head of science, with prejudice for its queen by its side. From this its place, it mocks science. (Cf. pp. 252I supra, and 332E-G infra.)

The source however should be conceived especially in terms of its product, the hypothesis should be esteemed in accord with its power to cover the data, the case - to work to meet specifications of test in neutral and fair play. WHATEVER theory works, which is uniquely verified, is relatable well to other effective theories, the one suffering no loss to any test for verification: THIS in science has superiority. What fails verification in adequate test, even one, is already excluded; what knows no verification is not included.

Thus to refuse a 'theory' on the basis of its source... is like academic racism; "Give us an answer from an 'accepted' source, or its merit will be entirely disregarded!" - so goes the philosophy of alienated prejudice (which, as we have seen - is also the metaphysics of irresolvable antinomy in this case, cf. references above). This is the 'word' of this discriminatory metaphysics masquerading as science.

Let it! it has nothing to do with science. When it also 'accepts' what tests of verification in fact exclude, it is merely comedy.

What the Bible states however - finished creation which is wearing out (e.g. Isaiah 51:6, 49:26, 45:12, 48:12-13, Colossians 1 - the first declaring: ''The earth will grow old as a garment''), and what is basic scientific law are in entire and absolute agreement.

What disagrees is undisciplined imagination! evacuated of verification, parachuting bathetic follies of irrational creeds, evolutionism, dispelled by logic, is humbling science by force-feeding it with these deceptive and hallucinatory dreams. Now what is there? ... the wonder of creation, and the folly of such delusive dissertation, doctrine, decrees - and in that ? you have bathos to perfection.

253: Morass - bog, marsh, swamp, a troublesome situation.

Garrulous - talkative, freely and easily spilling words with too little reason.

Beleaguer - surround or prevent by power, resourcefulness or skill; act as if to conquer by control.

Macabre - gruesome, grim and horrible.

262: Implication - something which follows, is not exactly stated, but is present nonetheless in the terms given. You imply; the other party infers that this is what you meant. You may challenge his inference; he may insist it was implied. The evidence then has to be examined, logically.

Often more is assumed to be meant than is the case, especially if a party is guilty, afraid or too sensitive. However, it is possible not to see what was clearly present, by being thoughtless.

Existential - concerned with existentialism, an approach which stresses the personal involvement of the thinker, rather as if he/she were a little naked flame of goddishness, giving meaning to things by attitudes and approaches, whatever may happen 'outside'. It tends to act as if to forge realities by wishes and decisions, a sort of pathetic imitation of the Christian approach to worldliness. They contradict reality, for whereas the Christian leaves ungodly attitudes as untrue to a reality which he neither creates nor, as to its being, cardinally influences: with the existentialist, all there is depends on the thinker, the rest having nothing to contribute beyond - a site for existentialist action.

It is pathetic because it is illusion. It ignores the implications of the existentialist as a person, on the one hand, and uses reason in one area, whilst failing to follow it in all others, on the other. As a philosophy making affirmations, giving 'views' without power to go beyond the subjective, it is incapable of giving any objective truth, such as ... its own theory, which therefore lies devastated at the outset, as in all such cases. See 'Sophisticated Permissiveness' and also 'Objective Revelation' on this topic (pp. 733-734 infra).

Epistemology - the study of the grounds or knowledge, how we know; how we know we know.

Ontological- concerned with the condition, nature or state of being ... of existing.

263: Ultra-serial Potencies - powers beyond those possessed by a mere series. What happens may give a series of events, whether social or chemical or mathematical. As such, the series is not thought-about-a-series. A series of thoughts may occur like cubes in a Picasso picture; but the construction, the picture itself is held before and beyond the series, which simply carries out design purposes.

Somewhere we review any series of thought, or may do so, assess it, may criticise it, re-direct it as one person with purpose, to which the series is adjusted. Even a series of purposes is moulded by one person into whatever is desired, designed or believed. A series is a number of bits and a man makes use of these as one being with values, purposes, ideas and understanding, perspective and spirit: more than a co-ordinator of series of thoughts or ideas, he may create them, amend them, tend them or destroy them as a personal creator. For any mere series, there is thought about it, control concerning it, and creative power to adjust it: on the part of the thinker whose structure precedes his function.

The unitary mind disposes series, often at will. Thus when people talk, two series do not interchange; two persons use series of words to express themselves. They use 'ultra-serial potencies'. (Cf. pp. 316D-G supra.)

264: Etiological - concerned with the question, nature, specifics of the cause of anything, as a specialist study; the study of the status, character and validity of causation, the pursuit of questions of the cause.

Solipsism - a theory to the effect that nothing exists beyond ourselves. It runs into the problem at once, of how we could know it.

265: Disposability - the power to dispose, or to put here or there. Disposability of the will refers to the power to ponder and dismiss, associated with rational guilt, if we fail high standards we hold, fail to see what we might, and this with rational blame (which none seems to escape attributing to other people). This is because guilt is not limited to oneself.

The contrary ideas of determinism, an option one may will to hold, in addition to failing to meet the above, fall into the usual black hole of preventing the arguer from consistently being able to assume or declare such a view as being actually true. He short-circuits this possibility by his theory - if it were true. (Being controlled, and lacking free power to assess intrinsic merit, he dies to integrity, like a pleasant-looking puppet.) The only alternative is to acknowledge that this theory is false, which it is. Disposability of the will is a sound idea, then, but even this is limited by sin, which tends to blind; and the only way to find the proper working freedom of the will, is as a self-confessed derivative from, or product of God.

Being in His image, however, when rightly grounded, we can will. This is one of the magnificent achievements of God's work of creation; and although its consequences are appalling, its possibilities are sheer wonder. See Determinism.

267: Pathology - the study of disease, diseased tissue, people, principles etc..

Evocative - stirring up a response, stimulating.

Mesmeric - hypnotic, arresting and fascinating, overcoming

Unitary - consisting as one.

268: Syntactic - relating to syntax. Syntax is the arrangement of words in a sentence to show their relationship; sentence analysis; matters relating to this.

Hermeneutic: relating to hermeneutics - the study and practice of interpretation or exegesis, finding out what is meant, signified, suggested by a passage.

270: Confirmatory - tending to confirm, establish, show correct.

272: Parameters - the bounds or scope of a study or operation.

274: Biological Linguistics - principles and practice of language through a biological device, structure, code, program or combination of such elements.

275: Vapid - stale, flat, unprofitable, tasteless, unappealing, empty.

278: Differentiate - show the distinctions between examples, sets; make such difference.

282: Theistic Evolution - the theory that God set to work using various trials or steps, and letting Nature work it out: a view confusing judgment with creation, and the observation of destruction with the hypothesis of construction.

284: Spontaneous Generation - the view that creatures 'arise' like air upwards, merely in the course of events ... replaced for example by Pasteur with awareness of bacterial realities, and in due course by other knowledge involving the integrity of various life cycles and causal patterns. It is a view still held by some despite lack of evidence, principles and relevant powers; sometimes confused with development of potentialities programmed to set stimuli, but may be applied (with much danger of being misunderstood) to genetic faults leading to change. Orgainc evolution is one modern philosophic format of this theory - contrary to observation, reason and the history of science.

285: Vacuity - lack of meaning or substance. Repetitious vacuity is meaningless continuations of the same: here through loss of what makes difference meaningful.

286: Decreated - subjected to an uncreating process, a reverse to being made; auto-dismantling - taking oneself apart, so that one ceases to be constructed.

Ineradicable - Unable to be removed; rooted firm, and not subject to simple removal.

287: Deify - (if it were possible)- make into a god.

288: Substantive Cause of Serial Cause - the basic cause that sustains the structure for the things that move along.

Prerogative - that which is a special feature, gift or power conferred on something by virtue of what it is, or has, or of its office.

290: Illicit - illegal, unlawful, contrary to specifications, plan, purpose, procedure.

294: Adducer - that which brings something up and makes it available, or to hand.

296: Unharassed - not subjected to trouble, weights and difficulties.

297: Inconsequential Verbiage - words of no real significance, tossed lightly together.

298: Matrix - Womb, base, as that which a rock provides for a gem; surrounds, intervening substance; that in which something is set.

299: Assessability - the capacity to be given a value or estimate of performance.

Tele-psychoanalysis - psychoanalysis as a distance; a work of construing, involving oneself in another's mind for inspection, from a distance.

302: Capricious - yielding to caprice, to sudden desire or pleasure or current of feeling.

Fallacious - having the quality of a fallacy, or invalid, wrongly reasoned thought.

Disparate - not equal, showing a difference between one and the other.

Transmutability - the power to be changed utterly from one thing to another.

Contradistinct - not only different, but so to such a degree as to suggest what is wholly different.

Immiscible - unable to be mixed to make one solution, principle, system of thought, or one whole.

303: Unreprovable - not able to be justly scolded; right, sound.

Aesthetic - relating to what is beautiful, to the principles of this; the study of which is aesthetics.

Adroitly - in a skilful, dextrous, nimble, alert manner; in a way far from clumsy.

Alienated - feeling like an alien, strange and unaccepted; or refusing to accept, rather hostile, apart.

Self-attesting Verification - something that both shows itself true in practice, and declares itself true in principle; a declaration which is seen to meet the case upon inspection.

Albeit - although, even though; even if it be the case.

Begging the Question - assuming what you have to prove; taking for granted (consciously or unconsciously) what is the very point at issue.

Jungian Libido - the imagined life-force so dear to the philosopher Carl Jung. While it is an improvement upon the pathological pre-occupation of rankly sex-centred theorist Freud, it is still an ill-thought-out concept, despite its increased coverage: as if life were surging like a stream in its course, conscious of its goings, and careering along with a god-like retinue of qualities. It is a dynamised, activistic, insubstantial substitute for the reality of the soul in God's image, responsible and responsive to Him for its cohesion, comprehensibility, qualities, integration.

Jung rightly criticised Freud for his unscientific pre-occupation, failure to provide meaningful interfaces or grounds of precise and verifiable connection between his sex-approach and the great variety of intrinsically significant life-works, from art to opera, which 'arose' in Freud's amorphous view in some... rather indistinct way. A force of these capacities careering along has to be something, and it is this cluster of characteristics allied to a purposive and volitional nature which demands more than the volatile vigour of movement to compose it, or co-existence in a continuum to give it access to truth. (See 'Phenomenology'.) The 'soul' exceeds in structure and in operation both these reductionists.

304: Discrete - separable into units, able to be taken one by one; contrast the term:

Discreet - knowing how to manage things skilfully, and without undue... noise.

Partial Propellant - that which only in part pushes something out or forward.

Promethean Lust - the desire to fly high, avoiding a subject or subordinate status from God; the desire to span the heavens, not be stopped, to be man-the-conqueror, without regard to containment, construction or limits. The name is taken from Greek mythology, where Prometheus stole fire from the 'gods', being punished for his presumption. The case resembles the case of Icarus, in Greek legend. The latter, in seeking to escape Crete, flew too high in the heavens, the sun melting the wax of his wings, to his destruction.

305: Antithesis - the very opposite; what has opposing principles to the thing in mind.

Destabilising Dynamics - the work of forces which remove the power to cohere, to be what a thing is.

Plateau for Evaluation - a basis, ground, starting point, organised reason or opportunity which makes possible, practical and to the point, any effort to set a value on something or show its significance.

Evolutionary Myth-making - a making-up of things which neither experience nor known law nor observation nor common-sense nor reason can commend; so that reality may have an imaginative substitute for those who find this really necessary to their sense of personal stability, whim, desire, caprice or lust.

306: Surreptitious - furtive, acting as if to try to keep something hidden.

307: Reminiscent - tending to remind one of something; being so reminded.

Ideology - a series of ideas which tends to appeal to people as suggesting, or having, some overall value, mission, meaning, purpose or program for the human race, or accessible to it.

Phenomenology - a study of phenomena in such a way as to make a system of them, for them or through them. Hegel tried to construct a history of ideas with their inter-connections, something Marx seized on (raptured and ruptured), as to Hegel's imagined method. This method was a developmental dynamism of thesis, anti-thesis, synthesis: the idea, the opposition to it, the new resolution. Progress is not so simple; the result is often regress, even given the ideas; and the truth is necessary as a preliminary.

Meanwhile Marx: milling matter, void of thought and cleverly made by nothing, creates ordering mind, which by creative collision institutes, to a marvel all things (a sort of realisation by rupture). This is the anti-rational, illusionist, Shangri-la Marxist myth, now imploded in Europe.

The whole idea of the actualisation of the potential - that is, the bringing into being, by acting on what has potential to be developed - brings up this necessary criticism... Where is the mind that made the potential, the program and the procedure by which it would form itself! You tend to be looking at a miasmic marvel of a self-creating god, which is rather difficult before it begins, to get going...

308: Creative Evolution - an idea made popular by Henri Bergson, one in which the obvious and continualIy apparent movement of design in life is given some recognition. lt can take the form of a god who is developing things and himself - as he goes along: which of course, neglects the God who made the potential in the god so that it could be developed.

It is a sort of half-way house between the acknowledgement of God and the worship of creation, that may seem psychologically to provide a way of escape from His authority; but it does nothing logically in its question begging procedure. Just as Jung, though wrong, was a considerable improvement on Freud, so this on Darwin; for while it ignores much, it ignores much less than did Darwin.

313: Metaphysically Intoxicated - carried away with a sense of lively power, in thoughts about the ultimate nature of reality; (ir)religiously excited and logically irrational simultaneously. The state is not uncommon, any more than is drunkenness of other kinds.

Ex-constructor - without the constructor.

Illimitable - unable to be limited.

Ultra-systematic - organising and ordering to a quite extreme degree, so that nothing may be said to slip by oversight. On occasion, this may sardonically imply a failure to cover sensitive, subtle or intuited elements adequately.

314: Proclivity - a tendency based on some quality in something, mainly in a person. It indicates a readiness or capacity for the sort of thing mentioned.

Suppress - to press under, operate to exclude, to prevent from surfacing. This is the sense of 'hold down' the truth in Romans 1:18 (e.g. N.A.S.V. translates 'suppress').

As Paul goes on to say, that 'eternal power' and 'Godhead' (or divine nature) of Him who is the truth is manifest among or in - them: that is, clearly portrayed, obvious. As in a law court, or in the psychiatric channels of truth suppression, so here in the spiritual antics of man: the obvious is for many so suppressed, so squandered in dilatory disinclinations, that spiritual arteries sometimes almost like biological ones, harden into inflexibility.

Unlike arteries, however, the spirit of man can be so creative as to live in a fantasy world - which of course, like 2 into 1, 'won't go', unless it be divided. THAT, this world certainly is, and will remain, until every knee has bowed ... to the truth, with such abundant clarity, in word and deed, quintessentialised in Jesus Christ, yes, definitively so expressed; for HE is the WORD of God, giving in joint propositional, spiritual and personal form the expression of God, with whom is His eternal place.

Thus, to illustrate, the concept that that is NOT science which does NOT pre-suppose that what is operational now, INSTITUTED ITSELF - has been shown to be the opposite of truth. What is observable is the complete absence of positive evidence of either

1) any such institution occurring now, and

2) powers IN what is in place, or laws, so to institute.

Scientifically, the assumption that it instituted itself is therefore as bogus as it is logically. Nothing, for its part, is definitionally replete with exactly NO powers . . . The question should not be begged, but scrutinised logically, beyond the bounds of ordinary science: though not without its proper protest against introduction of magical powers into matter or biology, which each carefully fails to verify! As Ch. 3 demonstrates, reason also denies all efforts to avoid what is evident: namely, that what is not matter, this had the power and precision to construct it. See also Ch. 1 supra.

In summary of certain elements, let us note this: the logical requirement of sufficient cause for due consequences is always operative (cf. e.g. pp. 7-10 supra). It is merely chimerical to close one's eyes to causality, for all reasonings which might be made to avoid it, assume it in order to perform their task! Ch. 3 deals with such escapist illusionism systematically, showing it impossible in principle. The fundamental Second Law of Thermodynamics (cf. p. 330 supra), for its part, as formulated empirically on what happens, merely illustrates the realities of causality, by its impress on entropy. Its very status as one of three fundamental laws (loc.cit. supra) is not reached by isolated thought, but by observation as its primary ingredient. No contrary evidence has ever been demonstrated (cf. pp. 421-422W infra; S1-S34, 251ff supra).

Thus we have four concordant considerations: causality is fundamental to thought, whether about this topic or any other, whether in arguing for this topic or against it. Second, it is impossible logically to analyse causality away, whether by evading it or 'explaining' it away; for it is assumed in the endeavour. Third, it is unnecessary to try, since no contrary evidence has ever been demonstrated (though historically, jejune attempts are sometimes comically made, as with the pre-Pasteur spontaneous generation fiasco). Fourth, the very endeavour to 'create' for culturally pious imagination (that is the 'new piety' of the New Age), a scenario where causality does not in fact operate, leads to a meaningless result (cf. pp. 284ff., 264ff. supra).

You USE it, you cannot LOSE it; you cannot EXPLAIN it away; and you do NOT show anything contrary. Causality is a law in logic as well as in science; and what we have herein emphasised is this: that extraordinary 'coincidence' is caused by impenetrable barriers which cannot be passed.

A causally escapist relic of irrationality or a causally rational end to all escapism: these are the final options. For reason, there is no option: the only choice is psychological, not logical. What-is (non-self-sufficient) in the realm of the visible, based on the divine I-AM (self-sufficient), the ground, cause and origin: this is the only solution for reason, either empirically, as a source for what-is; logically as a rational source; or systematically, as an adequate source. So also, there alone is the epistemological source for the truth with which to make meaningful statements (ones that exceed pragmatic-operational statements, tied to non-objective bases, in practice and theory).

Rational vagabondage without this, being self-contradictory, AND EXCLUDING WHAT IT REQUIRES to requisition reality, precludes in kind all valid argument about reality to the uttermost degree.

As Volumes 2 and 3 show in detail: what logic demands, evidence verifies ... and does so superabundantly.

315A: A PATTERN OF MAN - For Survey and Simple Mnemonics - A Summary Structure (PSC). This is envisaged as a skyscraper, and may be conceived upwards or construed downwards. (See pp. 140-145 supra, and cf. Repent or Perish Ch.7,

Added to these, further functionalities could be noted, such as:
CREATIVITY, INTER-PERSONAL CONSTRUING; LOGIC, MEMORY,
SYNTHESIS, SYSTEMS, DISCIPLINED-IMAGINATIVE-CONSTRUC-
TION; SURVEY - WITHIN AND WITHOUT.
While these extend our sight of the donated territories accorded to man, they can be understood in such terms as: mind, spirit and their intimate inter-relation. Here we see not only worlds within worlds in the construction called man - a multiplicity of cosmoi, but a disparity of components, duly combined and correlated to work as one unit: that is the art and essence of creation. The splendour of the architecture that creates, together with the wonder of the elements in man, themselves creations - the legally inert substructure, the vitally informed, the alert, the discerning, the comprehending, the volitionally directive, the spiritually profound, soaring inexorably: these in their display and their unison attest and verify at work... the sublimity of divinity.

SURVEYING THE SCINTILLATING SCENE OF THE UNITARY SKYSCRAPER

Now let us look from the top storey down.

At the top, the spirit (q.v.) of man, as active but non-autonomous, and derivative (2), is subsumed beneath its principal (properly God, but it may be opted for or yielded to as the devil, self, self-sufficiency, self-satisfaction, self-fulfilment, ideological activism, existential angst...), whatever it may be (1); just as perspective (3), in turn, is set below spirit.

Then is seen the personality as functional upon this, with its principles, priorities and purpose, all functions of it, proceeding in turn to utilise the whole realm of the mental and engaging the physical, with all the errors which in practice may divorce purpose from results.

The structure in its course then moves through the purely programmed to the anatomy of matter and the singularities of what subsists (ground floor). As to the principal, on top, this may be subjective, merely existential; or the upward gateway to reality.

The control room is in the top floor; and the merely existential per se lacks what life requires. The reality incomparably and immovably attested, is the Lord Jesus Christ who, the only begotten Son of God, the Word of God, achieved the building and offers to restore the mismanaged to the designed holiness: at cost to Him, by sacrifice once made, and power, epochally shown in His bodily resurrection. This restoration comes through personal faith and repentance, including His actual top-level reception, where He belongs; and His free acceptance of the purpose-deflections and other errors, sins at any level, unburdened to Him and His waste management.

AMID ALL THIS TRAFFIC SURGING AROUND MANKIND, LET US BE BOOKED
A Preliminary Overview of an Intriguing Aspect, in Some More Detail

At the outset in our site, we have first noted and then examined two "books" - and it is very close to LITERALLY two books. They are both exceptionally well-known,

1) the Bible for the mind and the heart of man, and

2) the DNA for his structure. Each is inscribed with efficiency, profound symbolic coherence and cohesion, intimate capacity for correlation with command, system to the finest point, and just that combination of meaning and symbolic method which constitutes design, direction and communication. If this is not communication, nothing could be.

In our Home Page, we had a link to Preliminary Perspective which traced these two books, but added a third, that of history, which follows the prescriptions of prophecy with admirable, multiplied and meek precision (see The Shadow of a Mighty Rock, Chs.8-9). For our present purpose, we shall merely note that this is a branch line in precision, although on a parallel line as it is, it does present a further intermeshing in dimensions, the word-work dimension of deity. Returning however to our pursuits here, we move beyond these two books, and the paralleling mesh of history-prophecy, to our own lives. Thus we are not only showing meshes within meshes as we proceed, but a parallel mesh of history, past present and future like a chronological parallel to the operational activities we are about to trace.

There are then in our present, personal operational library the two books noted. This however is not all. There are two additional books, somewhat more figurative, but not in the least imaginary. The FUNCTIONS to which EACH OF THESE EXTRA 'BOOKS' REFERS is as real as any between two covers in our ambit and purvey of scholars.

3) The third then, or the first of the two extra books is this: the co-ordination of mental world and physical world, auditory reception and command execution, between the man whose bodily equipment is programmed, and the world which has its physical and botanical, biological equipment programmed. The programs intermesh well; their symbolic sub-structures are unitary in kind, so that the efforts of the one, avail in the other, the impacts of the one are understood in the other, and (cf. Predestination and Freewill, Part 4), there are no alogisms to be found: the logic is unitary.

More, the mind of man, using programmed sub-structures for its ultra-programmatic progressions and pursuits, can understand the products that surround him.

4) There is therefore, and this is the fourth book, this second unit in our second series: and this is the comprehension-combination that transcends, go far beyond the mere structural logical cohesion and synthesis. To emit and receive in terms of a common system is one thing, extremely magnificent though this created product undoubtedly is; but to be so prepared in spirit and mind, so that the raw materials, themselves coherent and cohesive between the two systems, within and without, are able to be grasped, intuited, subjected to imaginative incursions, brought into the scope of thought and will and analysis, yes of understanding for action by the non-material, purpose-proposing, imaginative dimension of the being called man, his spirit, this is the next generation of marvel. (Cf. SMR pp. 348ff..)

5) Yet it would seem indeed scapegrace in gratitude to God who performed this production with the necessary linguistic, mathematical, comprehensive, analytical skill to manufacture symbols and significances (symbol targets), intimations and executions, thought sub-structures in logic and meaning, and interaction with a subject also formed, if we did not notice a fifth book. This is the power to ruminate concerning the Maker Himself. This naturally is the copestone, to which the imaginary relationship of Pinocchio to his craftsman corresponds in reality. Right through to the inward realisation of the thrust of the logic, the communality of the communication, the direction of the design, the strategy of the construction, man can peer toward the God who made him.

He can do more. It is not necessary in this field to speak of a 5th book, although it would be perfectly meaningful. One prefers not to do so, as at the level we have now reached, the affair is inter-personal to such an extent that the term 'book', so fitting earlier, is somewhat distanced. Rather this is the intimacy-provision for creator and creature when that creature is man. This is what book No. 1 provides for (the Bible), book No.2 is sub-structured to enable (the cells DNA and allied phenomena, atomic parameters and provisions), book No. 3 ascends to substantiate, book No. 4 arises to confirm. We shall however give it a name: there is in this fifth dimension, a correlation that is spiritual in kind, so that it may be termed scope for spiritual communication, and for concord. We are moving from the concept of 'book' to that of 'look', or inter-personal interchange.

This allows testing of promises, assimilation of pronouncements, reaction to orders, comprehension of commands, in a SETTING of illumination of conspectus, like a search-light revealing from the nose of an aeroplane, the configuration of the land far below, and something of the ways of those who live there. This is an ultra-programmatic conspectus, and an inter-personal opening. It is a vista on the divine.

It is complicated by just one vital feature, which is equally a vital failure, such as one may get in a damaged automobile, or TV. There is a perverse streak which surfaces in man, so that the more the promises of God in the Bible are fulfilled, and objectively they all are always found to be of this kind, the less they are wanted; the more the prophecies are brought into history, like obedient little lambs in a fenced paddock, the more is the distaste; the more the disciplines for folly, the more the folly, or the less the concern. While this is not like rectilinear motion, a mere reciprocity, and is complicated by the resilience and capacity granted to the immaterial spirit of man, happily able to divorce itself in imagination and purposes proposed for itself, from almost anything real, at will: it nevertheless is a thrust, an historical trend.

It is one reaching high points at fairly regular stages of our history, as first one philosopher and then another, proposes some folly such as is shown in Chs. 2,3, and 10 of SMR. Many follow. It is modish to follow. Tomorrow, few follow, and there is a new modishness.

That occurs on one side of the actualities, the human.

On the other, there is a vastly different attestation, and we find this.

As we have shown in great detail, the irrational inanities of organic evolution, an imaginary third force system for what far transcends it, like those of inalienable subjectivism, a sort of intellectual schizophrenia, these cannot even stand up to routine rational enquiry. (Cf. A Spiritual Potpourri, Chs. 1-9, That Magnificent Rock, Chs. 1,8, SMR Chs. 1-2 etc.; and for the 'subjectivism', SMR Ch.3 and Barbs, Arrows and Balms, Item 7, for example.)

Yet this  febrile fiasco continues (cf. detailed developments in SMR Ch.2), with parallels for other aspects of life, this phase readily being replaced with almost knee-jerk reactionary relish, by that, one soon to be junked option dismissed while some other fabrication is knocked up, and then in turn destroyed, so that generations pass and are sown in the muck, by the million ... on a regrettable error like Darwinism, which is contra-factual, and its many maids in waiting, hoping when mature to replace it; or Freudianism (cf. SMR Ch.4, Section I), which is rationally not possible and its replacements.

Meanwhile, both and all failing, the next generation pays what the last did not. The price of high philosophic fashion is low rotting in war, folly begetting and formalising folly, pride enhancing pride, ignorance replacing knowledge, hope replacing evidence, survival replacing spirit, self-service being preached in place of self-sacrifice, as if to survive were some bright idea, and dead-hearted relics of humanity were the new anti-heroic heroes, neither knowing nor understanding life, and grabbing land or money or provinces or power, or lusting for other territories or nations, in endless confusion, war  and necessary strife about what is less than life. Alas many devotees  meet the sod somewhat too early in illustration of the fanciful character of the mischiefs fashionably followed; and others are caught in their turmoil.

This quite naturally is the other side of being made in the image of God, that is, with a degree of capacity to formulate, postulate, propose, propound, create imaginary pathways and bypass God in mind, though not in destiny. It is necessarily so if we are to have something of that power, for nothing "determines" God. We cannot be like Him in this, that we are not increate, eternal from the beginning - but on the contrary, creatures, products; but we can in the realm of designated inter-change, of spiritual arousing and dousing, arrival and departure, make furrows which when it rains, become a quagmire, into which the race habitually descends. Nor is it merely an ideational matter; that is one facet. It is also behavioural, cultural, political and so forth, as different specialised consequences accrue, and then in turn, make their contributions to the disastrous melee.

This then merely illustrates the ACCURACY of that particular Biblical dictum concerning our meaning, position and, for that matter and as a result, our plight as mankind. This is for example found formulated in Ephesians 4:18-19, 2:1-10, John 1, Jeremiah 17:9, with the corresponding advice of Jeremiah 9:23-24 - cf. TheBiblical Workman Ch. 4, on the one side; and fashioned in history, on the other. The third feature is that it is also reaching crescendo proportions of a specified dimension, in history, within the historical framework portrayed for this occurrence (namely now, in this generation - cf. SMR Ch.8).

The next phase of this 5th., this inter-personal dimension, after the inter-relation of the book from the mind of one to the mind of the other, from the life of one, the Creator, to the fallen life of the other, is this. BECAUSE that which has been divinely enabled in the grandest invention of freedom (cf. A Spiritual Potpourri, Ch. 16, The Flashing Falls of Freedom), can maul and malign life, trivialising and abusing it, it is the necessity that there be removal or remedy as shown so often earlier and elsewhere in this site (e.g. SMR Ch.1). The mess of spiritual, mental, moral and physical folly, directed at God or man, or environment, or all, can be spared for a time without contradiction of the Maker (cf. SMR Ch.1, pp. 30ff.), provided there be a rescue package, a remedial opportunity, so that this is not a sanctified and accepted folly, this world's ways, but an site for seeking and a place for remedy, even if but few seize it. What is this remedy ?

That is called the Gospel. That in turn was predicted thousands of years ago, and many hundreds before its basis in the excursion of God, the Son, into this world occurred (cf. The Everlasting Gospel, Item 17, Barbs, Arrows and Balms). In this, He made a platform for retrieval, in that the public defamation and physical anguish, the legal penalty of death and the social dismissal were all precisely what mankind's misuse of his equipment, all 5 grand phases of it, merited. The platform the Gospel gives is Christ, the Messiah beyond all criticism, the grace beyond all comparison, the sacrifice which cancelled the doom of sin, by bearing it, for all who receive this provision (John 1:12, Matthew 20:28).

Catching up with this in sound style, redeeming spiritually, in justice, in judgment, in destiny, in doom, for this is no machine but an inter-personal reality (cf. That Magnificent Rock, Ch.5) , God has sounded the death of death (cf. Hosea 13:14, Hebrews 2, Acts 2, I Corinthians 15, Philippians 3:20-21). He has PERSONALLY met it  for His people; and all are frankly called to come. This He has done while providing equally the remedy for quarantine, exclusion, being Himself set apart in death, scorned, dumped like refuse (cf. Isaiah 53, Matthew 26ff.) . This He did by actually bearing the disasters and disrepute of man in the physical format of a man, the scoffing and satire of the religious officials being most useful for the purpose as planned. This format was something made easier by that God who always knows the end from the beginning, through His being Himself a plurality in One, existing in persons

like the problem, being foreseen, could readily be executed. This was duly done in its predicted time,  resulting in the foretold execution of the Son. (Cf. Predestination and Freewill, SMR Ch.8, initial pages, and Ch.1).

Naturally, the Son being innocent, and all-powerful, although the vulnerability He assumed in the form of a man spoke for sin, allowing it to make penal impact, yet the triumph which followed spoke of His increate character, so that even in justice, no judgment could cling to Him, merely to His format. Thus He died, but He rose (cf. SMR Ch.6, Biblical Blessings, Appendix IV, The Magnificence of the Messiah).  He went, but His spirit went immediately back to His Father.

6) This is the 6th dimension, the inter-personal donation which follows from and is culmination of the interpersonal-exchange. Here is the remedial, the divine to the human, the transformatory in spirit and in heart, in destiny and in significance; and as it is personal in its process, so it is personal in its consequence. From this, an indissoluble union on a specialised basis occurs, open to one and one, not to many en mass, so that a person among mankind can become a member of the kingdom of heaven, the commonwealth of grace through the purchase, the grace and the favour of Jesus Christ, the Lord.
