PREFACE

On this occasion, it has seemed best to place the preliminary view in Ch. 1, and thither one recommends anyone seeking a coverage of our concerns in this volume. Here let it simply be noted that truth is not mocked for nothing, either in purpose or in result! When this world prefers the delirium so often associated with sickness, to the dynamic of truth, the power of God, the grace of His salvation and the goodness and mercy of His Gospel in Jesus Christ, the only exponent with power and person to match the need and cover the case, both of His own authenticity and man's need, there are payments. Like rent, when you live on borrowed premisses, these continue; and as when a tenant prefers not to pay, they mount, are augmented, interest is added, and despite lack of interest in paying it, even in repentance, the world thus is

	harassed by debts unthinkable,
	unwilling to receive the coverage from Christ in unsearchable riches poured out in pardon, through His death,
	averse from the gift of grace and the adoption to His family, through His resurrection,
	and so facing truth not as a friend, but as a firing squad.

In this volume, we follow the mixture of delusion and divine dynamic, as the Author of man and history, brings the final touches to the painting which once, a matter of gore and grace at Calvary, now becomes a mixture of human ferocities as man unbalanced and far from his Rock, works out his own damnation, with fear and trembling, with pride and arrogance, with hope misplaced and dreams that are deadly.
