Preface
This
present work is concentrating on the divine leadership, the certainties being
clear, on the focus and features of His rule, of His determinations and His
disciplines, His works which HE works in His own way, His love and His mercy,
both profound. It is not a love which is a mere principle, since principles
do not and cannot love: this thing IS personal. It is not a love which is
cold like ecclesiastical charity, but one which is informed with the features
of the willing crucifixion of the Saviour. It is just, imperial but not imperious;
it gives, is gracious but not duped, for God sees and knows all. It is like
climbing
His
mercy likewise is like a great deep: it engulfs, swallows, is profound, still
in its certainties, dynamic in its methods, drastic in its dealings, unhurried
in its approaches, hallowed in its holiness, beautiful in grace, magnificent
in dealings, tender to the contrite, insurmountable to His children, a sky
of glory and a lake of content.
