CHAPTER SEVEN

LETTER TO A GRANDCHILD

I suppose   many a grandfather, or grandmother, separated by distance from a grandchild who is just beginning to grow up, would like to communicate sharply in outline, briefly, to help crystallise thought, challenge spirit and lead on the right way.

Let us construct something for this^*1. It could of course be broken down if needed, but ideally it could occur during conversation. But not all are near enough for that.

THE LETTER, DEPENDING ON THE AGE AND STAGE OF THE GRANDCHILD

My dear grandchild, I hear you are being led to consider many things at your school, and in your own thoughts you are pondering about religions; while some just want to junk the magnificent structures in our very brains, the wonderful way they are made, far more marvellous than anything that man has created. But they are THERE!

They are there, with millions of orders to various items - as in a factory - to present themselves here or there, in this form or that, with this supply of energy from that centre and language all around them, directing, thrusting, making, constructing, like a factory foreman! In the case of a baby coming, the legs and head, heart and nervous system, all have to start and slowly grow, methodically, silently, so that in a while, the baby has a large change in the way it gets its oxygen by which to live. Instead of getting oxygen from the mother's blood by channels of supply, as for some months, now being at last born, free now in the air, it has to switch AT ONCE to breathing air for oxygen. It must suddenly START using lungs. It can do so because these have been carefully prepared by orders set in its body, so that everything is ready at the right time.

It is ike some master-player or control unit, but set INSIDE. It is like a tiny thing you can hardly see, when it starts, but inside are orders, and it is being made with these. Imagine getting a tiny speck for your house, and having it with orders INSIDE IT, and seeing it without noise, being made over some months, each part formed, the connections made. That is NOTHING compared with making a person who can think, and love and decide. The lungs then, for the baby when it comes into the air  ? Sure, they have been made ready for this very moment, and are ready AT ONCE and FULLY to work. So the baby born, now lives, by using what has now been made from the orders in the speck, which is now all ready for just such an event. Otherwise it would die without air.

It is like having a car, which when you come to a cliff, turns into an aeroplane with wings hidden, but carefully prepared for such a thing! If the lungs, the new air path, do not work at once, in seconds, goodbye baby. Because they nearly always do, arrive faith.

What is faith ? It means that just as a dog, which you have, either trusts you because you do marvellous things and offer him a home, and you do not betray him, or else instead he does not, and so becomes just a cur, so with a child or adult. You either trust the One who made those commands by the multiplied millions,  all put together and given meaning in the things they command - for commands would be just silly if they were not taken on board by what is commanded - or you do not, and trust a dream.

For a person to be made, then,  you need the power to order in clear communication, with words which ACT, as a man gives orders to a sheep dog when bringing in the fold. Then you also need the power OVER what IS being ordered, so that the orders WORK. They are what is called information, things which can be known. To make the baby, you need what will  relate to these bits of information, and carry them out with the other millions of orders so that they not only happen, but happen at the right time, and the power to order is matched by what has the power to respond. It is similar if you are undoing a package someone sent you, to put together a car from bits. There need to be INSTRUCTIONS and YOU need to be able to make sense of them, and then CARRY THEM OUT, if you want the car. With babies being made, all that is what is sent, and when it is born, the post if you like, arrives!

Enough. You trust your Maker or you do not. If anyone wants to rely on something else, what is it ?

So commands arise without intelligence ? It has never been found that this happens.  Information is not found to arrive without mind to make it. A huge amount of orders have been made, and so we and other items exist; but we do not find this happening now! It is not found, and it cannot be shown. It is only dream. That is just what the Bible says: GOD SPOKE and it happened. He made it all. Then He stopped. We have the commands all around us, whether in trees or people, to make them; but never do we find utterly fresh new groupings of these orders being made without intelligence.

They do not arrive like rain dropping from the sky. It does not just happen; it does not happen at all. Nothing produces such orders but intelligence, and all this is a gift to man, who is even given intelligence with it; but he did not make himself. Nothing makes itself before it is there to do it! The Bible is always right, one finds, and what is says fits as nothing else does. And it can be tested, and this is one test. It passes with an A.

So nothing is the beginning of all things ? impossible, for if it had the power to begin, it would be something with the power to begin and that is NOT NOTHING. You need to have ALWAYS what it takes to get what we have, including ourselves. This is covered by the word 'eternal'; it does not start. Since nothing is the only other way, and it has nothing to become, being NOT ANYTHING, then this is the only way that is not dream.

What then ? imagine 'nature' developing itself before it is there to do it  ? Ridiculous. How can someone who is not there construct anything. What then ? imagine 'nature' into existence ? But imagination does not bring things into existence; it points to what MIGHT be done IF the power and means were there. You can imagine a bridge you want to build; but you need a lot more than imagination to get it done. You can create ten houses in your imagination, but you still would have no place to live.

So we would do far better to be honest instead, in our minds. Start with what has the power to build houses, and you are in business. Start with what does not, and you have neither explanation nor houses. It then just a silly dream, exciting but useless. If you trust in that, then you deserve what you don't get! It is empty.

I would NEVER want to live by a silly dream. Jeremiah 23 speaks about this. So start with what has ALWAYS been there (if it had ever  NOT been  there, there would be nowhere to come from), and what has the power to make commands, orders, and construct the mind, the body and the spirit of man, to think, imagine, hope or to say yes or no!

Start with the only way discipline, the proper use of mind permits, with God Almighty. Then everything is explained and all works.

What is He like ? He has more power, mind, understanding than all men, since what we ARE is far more than we can make, or even begin to do! What has He had to say or command to us, since He made us ? His words are in our very bodies - in each cell or building bit that has a centre called a nucleus as most do. We have billions of these, all packed up together, to work and act as one. He ordered this to be, to exist and it did. But He also has something to say to those born, and growing.

He commanded us to be, as in Genesis 1 - He spoke and it was done, as a manager might in a company; but what has He commanded us to DO!

Some invent gods that are not there. Dreams do that. In Jeremiah 23, God laughs at those who do this. He talks of wheat and chaff (the finely cut up stalks, not the grain). What is the chaff compared to the wheat! He asks. It is of course far less,  the whole point, since it is the wheat which nourishes strongly. What is a dream to MY WORD! He asks. What He, who made the body, says to the mind and to the heart of a person is like wheat. Dreaming away as if life does not matter, and truth is nothing, this is the chaff. You just blow it away.

How do you tell a dream from what is really happening ? It does not fit in when you awake; it does not work; it is just pictures.

God spoke and our bodies were made, since He has no limits. The everlasting God. God spoke in the Bible, and over thousands of years everything He has said happens at the right time, including the death date of Jesus Christ,  around what is now called 30 A.D.. That was foretold centuries before it happened in the prophet Daniel. This Bible stands alone among the present lot of gods and dreams. Jesus Christ is completely different. It is He about whom so very many PREDICTIONS were made (that is, things said by God before they happened, which then DID happen, one with the other, the word and the fact, as if they were married together).

It is He, Jesus Christ,  who carried them out, did them, acted with that power, and so became accepted by many. God had spoken to man at last in the form of a man. He told He was coming, and then He came. He said when and why, and that was just what happened. This was it. What He said before He came and when He came, and what happened, it all fitted together, like the body of a baby. But this, it is for the mind, the spirit, the heart, to know what to DO with oneself, now made. He has instructions for that too.

That is a test. Think now. If one of your brothers has an IDEA, and says let us do this, and it does not work, that fails. If it does work, you think again; if it always works, you wonder where he got all this power.

What the Bible says always works. I have shown this over 25 years in 222 books which I have been helped by the Lord,  to write^*1. Nothing else is like this: HE SAYS IT: IT HAPPENS. Dreams about gods that do not have the power, are time-wasting. They do not SHOW when it comes to saying what will happen, but they depend on force or foolishness to make people follow them, even when they fail! Thus Islam began with a man with dreams (or visions), who invaded a city called Mecca and MADE them do what he said in religion. It was force, not fact. Force has nothing to say; it just goes ahead and does, whether to kill or rob. Muhammad robbed caravans and killed what was needed, so that his ideas spread by beating cities, groups, peoples. Country after country was forced into his religion, and at last his religion  nearly took Europe.

But he failed there. When I say 'he' here, I mean those who over hundreds of years kept on causing fear and death, in his name, and threatened. In this his religion failed, just as Hitler later tried to use force to make people do what he dreamed;  and failed. It did not work. Many parts of the Koran, the book from Muhammad,  tell his people to win victories, and they are told in one place, to fight till only Allah (the name given to his dream of god) is ruling, till all the people agree to follow him. There is more in this dream, but not less.

Force! power! this is not truth, and to use it to make people follow a dream is like using a big hammer to make people learn mathematics. It is not like that. You need to KNOW what you are doing.

The god of Muhammad is called ALLAH, meaning 'one', but it is the wrong one, since it depends on force where faith', trust and love,  is what is needed. Force, power, push does not SHOW what you need, that is the power of God. In the Koran, even some kind of a heaven is made for those winning various battles. Heaven for force ? There is no heaven for force.

You have to understand. Other religions also have used force, and together, they have killed millions of people, often most cruelly. What do they leave ? blood, and even that seeps away! Others then make up their dreams about man and dream up the orders inside him, about which we spoke (called the DNA), as if they were coming from nowhere, which is just empty dream. Orders have to be both made and given, and if you want action, they need to come where they are taken up, and DONE. You need what can order and what can read it: both!

Force just pushes;  but this needs direction, and if you are going to build something, you need to know what you are doing as well. Force, push, power alone is not enough to give what we have got; you need intelligence and knowledge and understanding and the power to order things into existence. That is what we have and the Bible shows how God made the things you can see, just as you might, if you used your mind to think of something to make, and then make it. Your mind comes first, force next, and what you want has to be in MIND, under direction and control. Force, like the wind, just pushes, any way. You have to HAVE the mind and the force and the skill to use them together ... as Jesus declared it, figs do not grow on thistles. You need what it takes.

In John Chapter 6, Jesus is showing the people, following the words of God in the first part of the Bible, who He is and what He is giving. This was for a long time shown in a book, a record leading on to the promised Saviour from sin, Jesus Christ.  That is called the Old Testament, the first part of the Bible. In it, animals were killed, to show the end of sin, and to admit you deserved to die, and that God would act to show you forgiveness, if you took what He offered. In the New Testament, the second main part of the Bible, you read of what happened when He DID come.

In the Old Testament, it showed that He would die to cover sin once and for all; and that  they must take it personally, thanking God for someone to die instead of them, in what is called a sacrifice. It used to be animals, but just as God said in the Old Testament, the part leading up to Jesus Christ, that He WOULD do, so now God Himself did make the planned sacrifice, and in the form of a man, die to cover sin and guilt and shame and above all, the sins that separate from God. Many people did not like to have God do this, and did not trust Him, even though as and in Jesus Christ, He was doing many wonders, healing large numbers of people of all kinds of diseases, and showing amazing knowledge that no one could show false in any way at all. That was one thing He had to do to show that He came from God.

Peter, one of His disciples or followers, heard Jesus say, Will you also go away ? (John 6:67). Many were leaving at that point, and Jesus asked His close friends, Are you going to go too ?

Peter replied: "Lord, to whom shall we go  ? You have the words of eternal life," which you see in John Chapter 6, verse 68 and can check there.

Outside Jesus Christ, there is no other place to go, but to dreams. Use your mind and this is what you find. But one thing remains. You need like Peter, to give the Lord your heart because He really IS God, come to earth so that we could see and know what He had to show, and TRUST in Him, giving Him our sins, and taking His gift of eternal life, since sin is what kills (Romans 6, verse 23). Acting in this way, to receive what God gives, is called faith, for in so acting you are RELYING on Him. It is like having an operation, where for some things, you must rely on the doctor.

Here however in life, God is doing the work, and we must rely on Him.

Even death, He could overcome, beat, and rise from the dead, even as He raised other people before from the dead, and said He would do, when the time came. for Himself as in John Ch. 2, verse 19, Matthew Ch. 17, verses 22 and 23. It is the only shown way to overcome death, and just as God  gave life, so He can deliver from death, and I love this. It is so natural. Make something and make it live for ever. This is a most wonderful thing, and when it is God who will be with you, it is far more so. He has it,  eternal life, and can give it (I John 1, 5:11-12).

There is nowhere else to go, but dreams. These do not work. God worked and made things, and we see the commands in their millions, even in our own bodies, all working away as babes become children and these adults. But then death.

Eternal life is what God offers. Bodies are what He gives. You need the connection. He gives the opportunity; you need to take it, or dream. One trouble with dreams is that when you wake up, it does not work that way. The shimmer of the dream goes, but its action does not stay.  The Bible tells us to wake up. It is good when you do, and find that here in the Bible, in Jesus Christ, is the ONLY ONE EVER to show the power of God as described in advance in this way.  It is good to have someone to trust, when He is not only more powerful than all, as God on earth, sent to save, but this in kindness and with care and knowledge, wisdom and goodness - not just a force-person. He is a person to love and trust. My dog used to love me and trust me, and follow me, at times even when I was on horseback, just as I loved him. It was great.

We are far more than dogs; but we MAY TRUST, and Jesus Christ is the One to trust, and be awake, and find that He is good.

If you want to talk about Him, and the Bible, and life everlasting, and faith - and don't forget to repent of sin, that is, turn away from it as a poor thing that only brings ruin at last, and to set your  sin on Christ, who died to save, and rose to keep (John 8:24, 3:15-16, Romans 10:9, Luke 13:1-3) - I hope we may be able one day to talk. Meanwhile, goodbye for now.
